We were on our way to visit a bag designer today when it started raining. I cursed myself for not bringing an umbrella and told Kelly so. This prompted her to start a tirade about Rihanna's umbrellas inspired by her popular hit, Umbrella. We laughed for 10 minutes about how weird it was to manufacture umbrellas for sale just because you have a hit single called "Umbrella". So what's next, will Gwen Stefani start selling bananas? After returning from our meetings tonight I saw that not only is Rihanna going to make umbrellas, she's got a bag named after her too, the Rihanna bag by Marc Jacobs. Which then prompted me to another question that we've been pondering, can a celeb really sell anything? All things aside, this bag is not bad, it is modern and fresh though I am not sure how functional the small handles are for such a large bag. The alternative shoulder chain is also a bit too thin for the proportions of this large bag but other than that, I do not have a problem with the bag itself. I love the light metallic crackled leather, it is youthfully chic and edgy and the large front flap concealing a roomy pocket is quite useful but it's the simple lines of the bag that appeals to me most. $2,075, buy Marc Jacobs Handbags here.
So, what do you think? Would you buy a Rhianna umbrella or bananas from Gwen Stefani?

Though celeb endorsed products appeal to me, Rihanna does not. She lacks the glamour and haut-ness of say, Jennifer Connelly.
i definitely wouldn't give up my burberry umbrella for one from rihanna's latest collection. i'm guessing that they're supposed to appeal to the hannah montana crowd, which is a really big market right now, judging by her album sales. i’m so sick of marc jacobs. he’s such an attention whore(having a runway show on the ridiculously fake reality show the hills and featuring posh in his latest campaign). now i can add using rihanna’s name to sell a mediocre bag to the list of things i dislike about mj.
I agree with James, both Marc Jacobs and Rhianna do not appeal to me, he has sunk so low he has to restore to selling those cotton totes and shoppers
like the one at net-a-porter

You have to be really desperate to wear something designer to buy a shopper for £65! I would rather carry those with Twiggy's face from M&S :/
As for Rhianna, I think the idea of designing umbrellas is ridiculous, I bet that the range for H&M is same as for Totes, the shop she's been selling them last year

I am not a fan of products endorsed or designed by celebs, I would never ever buy Victoria Beckham scents as I would be to embarrassed to tell my friends what fragrance I am wearing!
Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B is just the same, overpriced and just plain weird.
I would never give up my trusty krista st john umbrella for a Rihanna Brella. Nothing about Rihanna is appealing. But hey she deals with Totes.. No? .
I'll pass on the GS nanas as well..
I don't buy bags based on celebrity endorsements, but I'm probably in the minority! LOL!
I think it looks rather nice, although bagsnob has a point about the handles could be a shade larger.
I wouldnt mind taking a closer look at it if I ever get the chance. the metallic sheen of he leather really catches my eye and dont see anything distasteful about wearing a tribute to Rihanna-although natalie cole is more my generation/style
Hate me or love me my true opinion is. I think that some people are so closed mind when it comes to fashion and ideas. See for some people think only we Americans buy products, but that's not the case. For some of us we might hate the bag but for others will waste all of there paycheck trying to buy it . Don't for get India, Brazil, Japan, China, Europe, Asia, Africa, out of all of the billions of people in the world millions will buy Rihannas umbrellas, and yes I might try Gwen's banana milk shake. Oh and they will sell. So lets not hate where she is glamorous or not, she is in her 20s. Has lots of time to get glamorous.
(World wide bagsnob lovers) like me
This bag looks gorgeous! It's fresh and VERY modern... so different from the weird designs that Marc (whom I respect!) did a little while ago...
Rihanna's a pop star, so I'm sure lots of teeny-boppers will be using their allowance money for her umbrella-ella-ella :) Even kids like to stay dry. I would never replace my umbrella with anything Totes, but the Rihanna bag is nice. I don't consider bags celebrity endorsements, since they are sometimes inspired by real people and not highly publicized in the media, like this umbrella probably will be...unfortunately (i was finally getting used to not hearing that song). As far as Rihanna goes, she does have a keen sense of style for a 19-year old. I myself recall a few of my college fashion decisions and wonder... Hopefully she'll evolve into a gorgeously glam lady. Only time will tell.
Yes someone and many someones around the world will buy but just not this someone. Celebs make things look cheap! i dont do cheap. :)
Personally, I am the boss of me. No one tells this Shoeshopping Goddess to buy something because it's attachement to some "celebutard". I buy because it's cute and I like it. Think back to the Hermes bag that (I think) Pharrell the "star" had. Purple and god awful Uggggly!
I love Rihanna sooooooooooooo much! but i dont love this bag. it looks sort of cheap and its not something for the young girls like me. maybe for the older woman who prefer those style of bags.
