Coco's Puzzle Bag - Snob or Slob?

I know this bag will spark heated debate amongst our Chanel fans and I can't wait to read what you guys think of it! Some of you will see this as a refreshing take on the classic quilted pattern and some may find it too trendy for Chanel. I will vote just like the rest of you and do not want to influence your vote but I must say that color blue is amazing! And remember, Coco Chanel was a risk taker and loved stirring up trouble and I can see her delighting in this interpretation of the Chanel Bag. I am, however, disturbed by its resemblance to the Henry Cuir Puzzle Bag but that could be purely coincidental.

Coco's Puzzle Bags are made of crackled patent calfskin with light gold metal in the following styles and sizes: Call Alexis to order- 214-520-1055

$2,325 Large tote 13"wx11"h - White, Red, Dark Blue, Black

$2,650 Drawstring, Red 18"wx16.5"h- Dark blue, Black

  • The blue is just fantastic !

Well, it is definitely not a classic Chanel but I think it is a really FUN and YOUNG bag.

I think it will really widen Chanel fans age range.

Like I remember how my mom tried to pass me her 2.55 when I was 18 or so and It totally grossed me out as I thought I really looked like an old lady.

But this bag, I can totally see it being carried by an 18 years old or someone in her forties ...

So yeah, I like this bag.

  • My problem with this bag is that I just don't know how to pull it off? How old you need to be to be able to wear it without being seen as either nuovorich or childish? With what you should wear it? something simple and plain to show it off or a complete kit with crazy colored Ray-Bans and pink nails?

  • I like the bag and I love the color! I still would probably have liked the original quilting better, but i probably would still buy this for something different.

  • The colour is gorgeous - divine, even. The beautiful shape and chain strap compliment the bag beautifully. But the 2 things that destroy the fantasy are both the jigsaw puzzle AND the overly huge logo!

    My verdict? No!

  • This is not original at all, it is a complete and total copy (with some changes) of the Henry Beguelin puzzle bags from last season (it might have been spring 2007 as well but I know Barneys had them in them in the fall). Couldn't Chanel have been more creative? And personally, I like Beguelins' version better...

  • I think most of you hit it spot on, the color: sublime. The chain strap: elegant. The giant logo: too obvious. The jigsaw: too trendy.

That said, I think many people can pull it off. This would be a fun bag for the eternally playful Bag Snob.

  • VERY youthful. i could see a middle schooler wearing it.

  • Love the color.

  • yes, the color is fabulous but color alone is not what makes a snob worthy bag. and yes, it is youthful but personally, i do NOT wish to carry around a bag that a middle school child can flaunt around.

Chanel does NOT stand for fun and quirky. it stands for class and sophistication.

as much as it pains me, this Chanel bag is a definite slob.

  • There should be a vote in between...

Not sure about the bag, the color and the chain are awesome, but I don't like the puzzle thing.

  • Bagsnobs-

Will you please do a story on the new Cornflower Blue Muse (YSL,... please!

  • Color and chain are fabulous. The logo is way too big. Puzzle is a bit too childish.

  • Henry Beguelin ! Yes I have it in tan .. So the whole puzzle thing is already signatured by another brand. But nothing is original right? RIGHT !
My opinion of this bag . Very cute .. cute to throw your mac air into on a Saturday.

  • I love the color, will it come in the regular quilt version? I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it did.

  • That color is certainly lust-worthy, and I love the shape as well, but something about the jigsaw puzzle doesn't work for me on a Chanel. It seems more Schiaperelli-esque and suitable for a more whimsical label, doesn't it?

  • A slob. The color is great, but the bag is too obnoxious for a Chanel bag. A bit too gaudy. I hope this won't be a pattern.

  • I think it's fascinating that readers are split evenly about this bag (after 500+ votes anyway).

I myself find it a bit cheesy... and certainly not a purse you would use for long.

  • I think the too bright color and shine make it tacky and limits it to what you can wear with it.
