Anya Hindmarch, British Fashion Award Designer of the Year recipient, has another winner that will surely make a splash with bag lovers worldwide. A simple and basic saddle shaped bag is anything but in Anya's hands. She manages to make it elegant with subtle chain details yet functional with shoulder straps so you can wear all the cute frilly summer dresses without fear of the chains injuring your shoulder. The leather is smooth and delicious with minimal hardware and the interior lined in luxe suede. There is a divider in the center so your things won't all hang down the middle and make the bag sag, plus it will keep you more organized- something Anya, as a mother of four, always thinks of when designing bags. I saw this bag in person at her Spring '08 preview in NYC last September and it is even more divine than the photo. There is a fab gray one but the cream is really elegant, it's a great alternative to a stark white bag and won't show wear as quickly. This bag has a very chic '70s vibe that appeals to me. I am really in a casual mood lately, and this is just the thing to throw on with my J Brand wide legged jeans and a Peter Som top (sometimes I just don't feel like dragging an Hermes birkin or Chanel around you know what I mean?). Grab yours today at Saks before it sells out. Priced at $1,200- there are very few bags in this price range with this kind of quality and design. Check out Anya Hindmarch bags here

where is this chic bag made? i wish it is not in china!
This is a chic and fab bag regardless where it's made.
Sadly I have to say that this bag doesn´t appeal to me at all. It looks saggy and baggy already as brand new. It also reminds of the not so happy years in70´s.
Why was the '70s not so happy? I remember it with fondness... Brady Bunch, Charlie's Angels, Grease the movie, lots of roller skating and waiting for the ice cream truck to show up.
To answer your question anonymous about the 70´s,well it is complicated.I happen to live in a country close to the new Russia and at that time some of us were really afraid to speak out loud how we really felt the nearness of our mighty neighbour. Seventies was full of joy too.I got married, finished my studies and gave birth to our first baby girl. Somehow the atmosphere though was tense and due to my husbands work,we had to move over the country and I lost contact with all my friends. That was a hard experience. Luckily I´m back home now and the USSR is past history. So now you know.
Mette,
What a sad tale. where do you live?
Mette,
That sounds like a very difficult time for you. I'm glad everything turned out well. I always wondered from you posts where you live also because you have said in Europe, some of these handbags are unavailable to you. Thanks for sharing.
Dear Tina and Lori. I actually broke to tears reading your comments.Yes, things have really changed in 30 years. My country in Scandinavia was amongst the first to join the European Union and I guess the majority of us agree that it was the best thing that happened to our country after WWar2 ended. We now have the euro, which by the way beats your dollar, and some even say that we are the most American country after you. I now have two beautiful daughters and the older one shares my interest in bags too. It has not been easy to return back home after the tough years in the north. I thought I could continue with my friends, but have realized that it was not possible. When in the 70´s I had to start my life without the support of friends or any relatives, I remembered that I had done some horseback riding as a young girl and started that hobby again. First I went to a riding school, got so trapped, that I just had to get a horse for myself and later a pony for my daughter. We built a stable for our horses and took 3 more to fullcare so we could manage it financially. Then lots of people became so envious that they never spoke to us since. We have had horses for 23 years. My younger daughter got her first horse last september, I have had my second one for ten years and our mare is 20 years old. Me and my husband got married young and have stayed together for 34 years. To end my long story I´d say that if I had not gone to the stables and found this passion for these great animals-btw,we have always had dogs, especially the flat-coated retriver is marvelous-I don´t think I´d be writing this all down now. We still have a very limited amount `brands´in our shops, but luckily the net-shops and particularly since I found this Bagsnob site, very many things have become easier.Lots of hugs for you all who cared to read my story!!!
