I am going to attend a private exhibit featuring Chanel jackets dating back to the early 1900′s!!! Oui, tres exciting! The exhibit is from the Paris archives and will be shown only in two US cities, Dallas (11/7-11/9) and Chicago. I was invited to the cocktail event on Wednesday night but I plan on skipping that (not that I don’t enjoy socializing at cocktail parties, but putting my son to bed and reading him his favorite books is just a bit more important to me 
. I plan on attending the next day when there will not be so many distractions so I can properly focus on the once in a lifetime chance to see these pieces. Those of you who own Chanel jackets will be able to understand why I am so excited, every detail of the Chanel jacket is exquisite. From the weighted chains hidden in the interior to ensure the jacket will hang properly to the delicate silk lining that mold the jacket to your body, there is nothing like a Chanel jacket.
If you did not know, I have more Chanel jackets than Hermes birkins. I bought my first Chanel jacket in my mid 20′s (it was a very young and hip cropped tweed version trimmed in chocolate leather) and I have been addicted ever since (and by the way, I was 25, not 17 so I felt it was very age appropriate!). Back in 1995 they were sold in sets but I would convince the SA to sell me only the jacket as I planned on wearing them with jeans or mini skirts of my own. Now they are mostly sold as separates although I do own one complete set (in a soft shimmering pale champagne color) that I wear for weddings. Other than that, I avoid skirt suits like the plague! Thanks, Lauren. I try to put him to bed every night even with our packed social calendar. I really pick and choose the events I go to. Generally I will show up if my name is on the invitation as being on the host committee, or I take a separate car and send my hubby first. It took me so long to be a mom, I am not going to abandon him to the care of nannies!

I grew up in SF with a very social mother. putting me to bed was also important to her as were her chanel jackets (most of which I have snuck into my closet!) kudos to you for making motherhood your priority.

Yes, you can wear your Chanel jackets for the rest of your life but your son is only young once! Hats off to someone who has their priorities straight!!!

My local Neiman’s has a Chanel boutique. The SA told me Chanel jackets cost anywhere from $3500 to $6000 dollars. The good news is they go on sale at about 40% off.
