Botkier Frankie

Fall bags are on sale so we all know what that means, new bags for Spring are on its way!!! Yay, we can't wait to get started on what's to come, there are a lot of new and exciting designers we will be featuring so stay tuned. For now, here is something new for Spring 2008 from Botkier who has had us laughing and crying through their various incarnations but lately we have been just giggling with delight at their newfound voice and look. The Bryant was a knockout bag that is practical and super sleek. This top zip Frankie is another highly functioning bag with great details and an adorable personality. The flap over the loose pleats is simple but it totally pops and makes the bag by giving it an interesting focal point. I love the braided handles, another subtle detail that really adds a lot. I like the concept of the coin pouch charm, but I am not too sure about the chain its on, just seems a little too rough, but it is removable so all is not lost. I first saw this bag in a red, called Persimmon, which is beyond fabulous but unfortunately that color will not be going into production. I'm really disappointed but I guess buyers weren't into it. They say that editors and buyers are always at odds but I'd like to think that we are on the side of the consumer, therefore, from the perspective of the buyer even though we are technically "editors". I'd like to see if they pick up that color because it really caught my eye and I'm sure would invoke the hearts and wallets of other Bag Snobs. This silver patent is the second choice over black, chrome yellow or cracked copper. Frankie will be available in February, priced around $600.

This bag is very affordable but not to my taste at all. It is just too pussy-like and awfully gleamy.

Kelly: I love Botkier's new direction too! I am looking for an everyday bag in persimmon or a good red that will perk up my wardrobe in the wintry and rainy days ahead. Do you have any suggestions in the cheap thrills price range? Thanks!

cute! glad to see that metallics are still in.

Astrid:

Great cheap thrill bag in red: www.botkier.com/sale has the Devon satchels and Lola hobo and satchels in true red for $230-$290- great price for really classic bags that, although from S/S 07, are really not dated or out of style at all.

Thanks for the tip! I just tried that link and looks like those bags are no longer available.
