Okay, we heard you. Enough of the big totes! Here is a fab oversized crocodile clutch delicated wrapped in chains and crystals. It softens the look of the big gator yet lends an in your face glamour. Leiber evening bags are making appearances in the clutches of celebs and social girls everywhere after a long absence from the scene and have recently nabbed the top honor of being the most "Prestigious Handbag Brand". From Luxist:
"Since 1953, every American First Lady has carried a custom-made Leiber handbag to the Presidential Inauguration. Over the years, Judith Leiber's hand-crafted bejeweled creations have found their way into the permanent collections of The Smithsonian Institute, the Victoria and Albert Museum as well as the hands of discriminating women everywhere. It is therefore no surprise that Leiber handbags were named the most prestigious handbag brand in the Luxury Institute's 2007 Luxury Brand Status Index survey. The index surveys 783 high-net worth consumers with an average income of $305,000 per year and an average net worth of $2.2 million. In particular, women over 45 with a net worth greater than $5 million gave high marks to the elegant Leiber handbag. In the survey, which included 26 high-end labels, Hermes and Prada also rose to the top, coming in second and third, respectively."
Decades Inc owner, Cameron Silver, told me that he thinks Judith Leiber is the most important American accessories designer of the 20th century. So if you are looking for one piece of luxe heaven that will set you apart from the rest, the Twilight crocodile is for you! This piece is also destined for the Smithsonian one day, it has all the elements of timeless appeal with 21st century aesthetics that makes it a classic. Twilight clutch in black crocodile with pave Austrian crystal clasp and silver chains. 12"x5". $5,695 at Bergdorf Goodman. Email the Personal Shopper or Call 1-800-558-1855

Wow this is totally precious!
key words 20th Century. its now the 21st century and all this 20th century stuff is played out! Out with the old tight and white and in with the new super lux without fuss.
This is beautiful. A true gem.
don't you just hate the anonymous commenters who only leave negative comments?
The comment is not negative its my reality. Take your blinders off and pay attention to what big spenders of the 21st century want. My gorsh .

Well Nancy C: You surely always comment with your own name and have an opinion to just about everything. At most times your opinions are very predictable, pleasing if I may say so.
Interesting you say that. Perhaps it's because when I have nothing nice to say, I usually don't say it. And only comment on the bags I love.
I am working on my own blog to be launched soon, would love everyone to come and take a look!
ahhh,the truth comes out!
the clutch is stunning but I am way to young to rock it. I don't really get into Leiber bags in general. I know sex and the city featured them alot. those sparkly crystal pigs, dogs, mickey mouse that carrie clutched around, yuck! this at least is an improvement.
Hey this is America land of innovation , free trade, and free speech. Sometimes things will not be peaches and cream comment wise. And no offense to Prada hermes and JL . But I am over it. ! and so are my girls.
Again its not about being negative its about telling the truth and about how I feel . As a 26 year old with a bag budget of 15k a month I think it does the bag makers justice . Ya know me Telling them what I like and dislike. Welcome to the 21st century! Hey bag snobs, when the heck are you gals going to make your own bags? I am sick of the same old names and things.
Darling Pam Stein- if you are committing your monthly bag allowance to us, we will get a bag line together asap. At least we know what you like and what you do not :) Wouldn't it be fabulous to have a line of bags that will cater to the whims of its clientele who will actually carry them? THAT'S where I see the trend going... as consumers of true luxury seek beyond even the Hermes Bespoke.... The Manolo once said we have forever changed the relationship between bag designers/manufacturers and consumers... Love, Bag Snob
exotic skin, chains, and crystals...i'm sold. but i do have to say that i like the python version better.
jane, how funny is it that the judith leiber sex and the city episode is on right now? carrie actually hated the crystal swan that mr. big gave her and so did her friends. the only people who seemed to like the crystal pig, mickey mouse, etc. were the UES dwellers in their late 40's (which explains the most prestigious handbag brand title). obviously the brand is trying to cater to young hipsters with this clutch and i for one think they did a good job.
Thank you bag snobbers for atleast taking the time to listen to what i had to say. i agree with you guys and of course I agree with Mr Blahnik.. And guess what ? there is a place that has a bunch of brands that cater to the whems of the buyer, actually all of the brands are bespoke and made-to-measure. But its so private and so new that most dont know much about it. I shop there all the time. When ever ya'll decide to launch your line you need to have your services at this place. My friends and i love it. I won't say the name of the place for fear that you guys will think its shameless promo so I put the email of the place in the email box .
O and as soon as that bag offering line of yours is ready send me some info to my non junk mail account.
Thank you
And keep up the good work.
From an actual buyer not just a looker
Pammy Stein.
I don't find this bag to be anything special - it looks like something a grandmother would use. And, Cameron probably made that comment to you because he has a bunch of them lying around that he wants to sale - it's called marketing. ;)
It is sooo nice that dear Pammy Stein has 15k a month to spend on bags, while those of us (who can spell) are struggling with reality. Would she mind not shopping one month and giving me some of that dough to help pay part of my student loans. I am going into teaching with an MA in Art History. Better yet. Why does not she donate two months of her bag budget to a NYC public school in need. Reality check...
