YSL Uptown Crocodile

uptowncroc.jpg

I promise this is the last YSL uptown I will feature...(this month)! But seriously, this was way too delicious to pass up... the uptown in genuine patent crocodile leather in sky gray. Just look at it, it's screaming "Chic"! After seeing matte crocodile for so many seasons, patent crocodile just feels so decadent! Are you drooling? Passing out yet? Wait til you read the price, it's $26,995, as in should you max out your credit card or cash out your child's college fund? Or maybe you are one of the lucky girls who do not have to think twice about spending five figures on a bag and can hand over your titanium card without a beat or a care in the world (you'd be surprised at how many friends I have who buy these kinds of bags regularly- I won't name names because their husbands may be reading this). But hey, don't shoot the messenger, I am just sharing my discovery with you :) At Bergdorf Goodman for pre-order, it will arrive by November 29th, just in time to thank Santa for being so good to you.

Jil Sander Workbag

jilsander_workbag.jpg

Jil Sander is one of my favorite designers, her simplicity is elegant and timeless. She brought the same aesthetics to her bag collection. Substantially improved since last season this Fall has amazing bags like this functional workbag. We have been getting a lot of requests for work/school bag suggestions and how can anything be more fabulous than this for such a mundane purpose? It doesn't look like much in the picture but let me tell you in person you can smell the quality and style. Every little detail is perfection, which is why the pared down design is where it's at. You can't make a bag for cheap and have it look like this!! That is the allure of a designer like Jil Sander, it's in the tailoring and in the case of bags, it's the craftsmanship. You pretty much buy Jil Sander for life, and to be totally pragmatic, for a workbag, you don't need an array, you get one good one and you keep it. You save your money for the fun/going out bags! Available at Barneys New York and Browns Fashion for $1650.

Miu Miu Ostrich Vitello Bag

I usually do not post this late in the night but had to alert you of Miu Miu's gray ostrich Vitello convertible bag on Net-a-porter! I just know this will sell out and I'd hate for you to miss out on this fabulous bag! The rounded shape adds youth to the top handle bag and the ostrich makes it too divine to pass up. I love the juxtaposition of gray with gold hardware, it really complements each other! Rock it with this fab Miu Miu Double-breasted peacoat ($1,395) and a pair of hot pink Louboutins and you'll be bright and happy for Fall! Miu Miu Large rounded tote $3,360 at NAP.

popquiz19.jpgAngie looks all grown-up and sophisticated in this silk blouse and trousers, but what bag did she pair with her ensemble? I'll give you a hint the designer is not as tailored as this bag appears!

Bottega Veneta Spring 2008 RTW

Tomas Maier does it again with a collection that is wearable but ultimately glamorous. If Coco Chanel was the Queen of Beige, Tomas is the King of Muted but don't think that makes his collection any less spectacular. If anything so subtle can cause fireworks go off in my heart, this is it. The bags were no less impressive, there were so many new styles I actually started looking at my financials for next year to make sure I can get all the bags I want!! Of course, exotics are still strong for the foreseeable future and Tomas kept those simple to show off the skin. The woven gathered tote will be a huge seller for them, it is a loose casual bag that screams Bottega!!! I am most in love with the woven frame in white, how lovely can one be? So ladylike and elegant, it makes you feel like a million bucks just being close to something like this. I am calling in to order this like right now!!

Givenchy Two Tone Shopper

givenchyshopper.jpg

This is the first studded bag I have approved of, I love the contrast and interest it brings to the leather tote. Givenchy is a new love of mine and I am intrigued by its designs. Avant-garde and stylish, this is also an ergonomically sound bag, your arm slips right through without fuss to tote it around town or it can be slung on the shoulder without fear of slip and slide. Sure I hear some of you with the rabbit ear inference but really, are you not sick of shoulder straps doing everything but stay on the shoulder? Give this a whirl, I know you will love it. $1,600 at Barneys New York.

Bag Snob Daily Pop Quiz #18

popquiz18.jpgIs she or isn't she? For anyone who saw Christina perform at the VMA's I thought it was very obvious (she needs to stay off those heels!). But that's not the only question: Who designed this killer bag that she has accessorized with a colorful scarf?

Update: Wow tons of you responded to this one! Congrats to K for being on the ball first! The answer is Marc Jacobs!

Dior Chain Mail Clutch

dior_chainmailclutch.jpgdior_chainmailclutch_closeup.png

Going on a date with your knight in shining armor? Well, go in matching style with this chain mail clutch! Seriously, why else would you need a chain mail clutch? Michael Kors did a chain mail bag for when you go diving in shark infested waters but this clutch (at 8.75"x 4.25") is hardly big enough for scuba gear . The Kors bag weighs 8 pounds, this clutch is probably lighter but honestly, after a night out you are still going to get carpal tunnel from clutching. Besides, the novelty of chain mail is not enough to make a fashion statement - this bag is just pointless when it comes to style so it's not like you are suffering for the sake of fashion. A good use of chain mail would have been an updated 80's inspired frame clutch with a cute clasp, that would have been subtle and chic. And at $1430, who would bother? Available at eLuxury Dior Boutique.
