Versace "Snap Out of It" Orilag

Here is a perfect example of a total waste of animal used. I look at this and feel sorry that the rabbit (or rabbits) died to be this hideous bag. Before I contradict myself and say that fur is totally useless on a bag, let me just say that in this case, it doesn't even lend to its aesthetics and in fact gives this atrocious bag an added level of heinousness. The bag has sections of fur, leather, trim and on top of all that, the fur is then quilted so there are all these spews and tufts of hair sticking out everywhere. In person, this is so over the top ostentatious but not even in a "look at how amazing I am" kind of way, it is rabbit fur for chrissake, otherwise known as the poor man's fur. It's for those who think they are causing a scene because they think they look so great when in fact people are gawking in fear and hilarity of them. While shopping, I actually saw a lady buy the ponyhair taupe/brown zebra print version of this bag. Let's just say she is one of those older ladies who decided not to age gracefully and had her face embalmed to a state of non expression. I guess if she thinks her face looks good, it is totally unreliable what she thinks a good bag would look like. And for that reason I suppose is why this bag is named, "Snap Out of It". How ironic. $2288 at Saks Fifth Avenue Bevery Hills (310.275.4211).

  • Ouch-looks like a Barbie bag to me.

  • Yes, this bag is a definite mortal sin. Great penance must be done for it. That being said, I would like to point out that the Gianni Versace Couture bags for men are outstanding!!! It caused me to break my own record for the most money spent on a bag. They started selling them in May of this year. To find pictures, to to www.versace.com, click on Limited and then click on Collection. The men's stuff starts around picture 19. I purchased the Artisan Messenger Bag which is the more floppy one. I told Danny - one of the best sales associates I've ever come across - who helps me in the Fifth Ave store, that I'll be buying the regular messenger bag this coming spring since that purchase kind of wiped out my bag budget for the Fall.

  • Oh my, this is one ugly bag...

  • Owe. Wow, that thing is ugly. I have, sadly, seen one person carrying that particular horror... and you are right. She honestly thought our stares where stares of admiration and covetness. She really couldn't tell the difference between those glances and those of horror and humor.

    Sad really.

  • it looks beautiful to me!

  • And I thought the Eighties were gone for good...but it could be worse: imagine yellow or orange leather;-)

@Mette: Even Barbie's got more taste: The Silkstone BFMC "Tweed Indeed" carries a tiny Stam bag*lol*

  • Ok I am going to be very blunt. I think this bag looks rediculous. I think the price is outragous.

  • What does Donatella have against Muppets? First that giant blue thing that looked like Cookie Monster was eating Kate Moss's arm, now this!

The sad part is, if it were done in a smooth leather it wouldn't look half bad. The basic shape and design are pretty good but the fur kills it.
