Okay girls, I know I was just advocating color in the last article but in the case of Paul Smith's Violet bag, it's best to stay away. Not to confuse you or anything but look at all the crazy Pucci-esque swirls.... it's so over done! And if I wanted Pucci, I'd rather go get a Pucci than a knock off. I do love color but I am more into color as a solid when it comes to bags, I mean who wants to look like a melted rainbow sherbert ice cream cone? It's a mish mash of crazy multi color swirls printed on leather with brass hardware. To make things worse there are also straps across the top so you can't even get into this bag easily without putting down everything you are carrying in order to unbuckle them. A big two thumbs down from the Bag Snob. What do you snobbers think? Is the Paul Smith Violet bag snob or slob?

I like it! I am really into color too and I think this would look really cute with a solid color outfit of course. But I am with you, I will buy a Pucci bag before this one.
I think that Paul Smith's signature colour effect works better as a trim on, say, a jacket lining than full-on as here. This is more twist than classic.
I love PS Swirl Accessories...I have some in my collection (even a rain boots & umbrella, Stands Out! lolz!). But, I kinda agree with you in this particular bag. The straps are unnecessary and redundant.
IMO, the swirl is not a knock off of Pucci design. They both look like psychedelic but in a different multitude. This multi color swirls are rainbow of colors which makes the design easily mix-match to any color of the season.
I also love Pucci and have one bag.
Just looking at it is making me dizzy. No thanks.
this scares me.
No matter weather its Paul Smith or Pucci I know who design it ,the designer is Willy Wonka name of the bag is Lost in Discoloration
Never ever in my wildest dreams could I imagine buying a bag like this.Don´t like anything about it.What did Paul Smith think when `designing´this stripebox? Oh,ouch!
melted ice cream is right. and makes me dizzy
If you're going to go wild with color, the design needs to be simple, simple, simple. The straps across the top kill it for me.
Reminds me of the spin art I used to do down the shore where you drizzle paint onto a sheet of paper and then the workers spin it at dizzying speeds.
I have always loved this design of Paul Smith's but this shape is just not right.
I don't like logo, it is so tacky, but having a signatureprint for a fashionhouse is even more...risky.
Paul Smiths signature print may have been fancy and fashion in the 90's but now...it is just awful and tacky!
The only signatureprints that is classic and looks good are Emilio Pucci and Burberry, but still I would never have a bag with it!
I don't like the gold plated fittings. or the style of this particular bag very much but the signature swirl pattern, especially in older designs can be surprisingly subtle, here the colours are all secondary and both mellow and unexpected..a long way from ice-cream or whatever...very yellowy greens and dirty pinks. These bags were made in Italy and the newer ones made in Turkey seem brighter and the leather is too shiny finished, rather than being lie the almost matt italian bags.
As for Paul Smith bags being Pucci knock-offs, please they are very, very different and besides....pucci has been knocking itself off from what I have seen here....with high priced junk that they couldn't give away in discount stores in England
I love all Paul Smith Swirl Accessories. I just love color! I like the shape since I'm fond of zipper totes but I don't like the straps. They have no use, or worse, they will make it hard to get stuff in and out of the bag, unless it's always unbuttoned (but that would look ugly). So far, this is the shape I've liked the most, apart from the open shopper tote (too bad it was a tad big for me).
I think you are all completely wrong regarding your opinions with this bag. Firstly, as for being 'Pucci-esque', anyone with a wide knowledge of fashion designers should be aware that the 'swirl' design has always been Paul Smith's signature print! Consumers only shy away from this bag because it's a lot more conspicuous than the bland and boring 'Mulberry' and 'Chloe' bags on the market. I have this bag and have recieved many comments on it, plus it is pretty impossible to recreate a fake! The shape of the bag is extremely practical, it carries a lot more than it looks.
I agree with the last comment. Most of the designer bags in the market have fakes already. I have not seen this one copied yet. I've seen a bad copy of a swirly wallet though but no one would be fooled.
If I can only get my hands on each paul smith swirly accessory I know, I'd be so happy. I have a collection of wallets, wristlets, coin purses, passport holders, pouches, handbags, keyfobs, scarves, shoes, etc (although I never wear more than one at a time, unless they are all inside the bag lol). This is the best shape I've seen so far, since everything else was too traditional or stiff-looking. The only thing I didn't like was the straps but the shape is great, very modern and spacious. Whenever I use it, people ask how I got it since here in my country, there's a waiting list for leather swirly bags.
I compleately disagree, I think this bag is fabulous. I love how colorful it is and I think it would work great with any outfit that needed a punch of color. I do agree that the straps are a little much and could be gotten rid of, but other than that I love this and all other Paul smith swirl accessories.
