Remember that lucky girl who received a Birkin for Christmas with the help of the Bag Snob? Her husband was determined to get her the best and best she got! But that's not where the story ends, a couple of months after Christmas, I received a package in the mail from the same husband. He wanted to thank me for assisting in the procurement of the birkin (totally unnecessary by the way, it was my pleasure cuz I love shopping with OPM- other people's money!) and it turns out his wife's friends get spoiled too, he sent me the most fabulous Bottega Veneta Anaconda make up bag! I was shocked at the extravagant gesture (this is seriously a guy who does everything with class and style! Boys- take note!) and couldn't believe that he knew exactly what to pick out for me. How did he know I was pining for that exact Anaconda lovely just weeks before at the Bottega boutique but could not bring myself to splurge on a $700 make up bag to hold my lipgloss? He picked the most classic and functional of colors too, a nutmeg brown lined in black so no matter how often my lipgloss explodes, it cleans easily and does not stain.
I am now completely enamored with Anaconda, the big bad cousin of the python with sturdy skin that does not curl or peel (at least not the Bottega version!) I've been shopping around for an Anaconda bag but have mostly found python and snakeskin (which I love but trust me, once you've used Anaconda you do not want to go back to plain ol' snakeskin!) until I came across this beauty, no surprise it's another Bottega. This is a gorgeous bag that will take you through Summer and into Fall in a muted brownish-pink named Old Petra. The Anaconda scales are perfectly lined and sized with no fussy details to take away from the beauty of the skin, an aged brass lock finishes the look of this stunning and sleek tote. My birthday is coming up in August, this is exactly the bag to put a big smile on my face (hint hint to hubby, mine I mean) $4540 at Bottega Veneta boutiques.

There indeed were some very desirable Bottega bags when I clicked their boutique site.Since I live outside US, these bags are out of reach for me.I believe in posessing only a few bags and as I´ve told before I have sympathy for the YSL ones.
that looks glorious but i wonder if the anaconda skin will be too delicate for everyday use? I know that i have had snakeskins that get damaged too easily
I've been drooling over this very bag for several months now, hoping that as it's a seasonal colour, it'll go on sale like many of the other Old Petra pieces from S/S '07 already have. It's actually very reasonable for an exotic, especially for its size. I just might have to own this at retail....
Bag Snob - I hope you get your birthday wish!
You simply have to have it :) It's probably one of the most gorgeous bags I've seen on your site and so very, very Bag Snob!
You all know me so well! I really must have this...
Bottega's Anaconda bags are very sturdy, I abuse my make up bag several times daily and the skin is perfect! It's gotten more stuff on it than I care to admit but looks brand new.
I know what my fiance is getting me as a sorry-I-was-working-in-Beijing-all-summer gift! Ok definitely the makeup bag, but maybe if I'm a good girl, and I hint oh so subtly, I'll get the big girl sized one.
Good luck bagsnob!
Tina, I have the anaconda wallet just like this, and it is divine! The moment I bought it, I thought of you and how much your love of exotics has influenced me! Your sites are definitely causing a huge hole in my wallet lately, but I love you all the more for it! :)
Let me just say that the leather is very sturdy for every day use, and when I'm rushing out the car I sometimes I carry it alone, and get sooo many compliments on my "stunning clutch"!
I really want the anaconda wallet! It's incredibly beautiful. Unfortunately they are sold out on the Bottega site and I don't live anywhere near a boutique. Does anyone know how I might be able to get ahold of one?
