You all know we adore Joy Gryson and her urban chic line of bags so you won't be surprised to hear that we ordered half a dozen bags while in her showroom last Spring in New York! We were like two crazy people grabbing at bags, boots(yes Gryson is offering boots for Fall!) and everything else we could get our hands on. The "Laura" tote was one of our favorites from the Fall line up; we ordered one in soft lilac and one in blue and I have no idea who is getting what but had I seen this grey one I would have snatched it too! It's just such a great everyday tote to throw on without thought and you'll look effortlessly chic no matter what you are wearing (unless you dress like Britney Spears in which case there is no bag in the world that can help you)
Besides the interesting use of stitching to create the illusion of a flap and other stylish details like the subtle multi straps that add a lot of style instead of detracting away from the cuteness of the bag, we also loved the multi pockets. Kelly was pregnant and was excited that she'd be able to use it as a diaper bag as the side pockets will fit a bottle perfectly (trust me, running around New York to multiple meetings during last March's freezing weather with a pregnant woman was no walk in the park. If she wasn't cold- I gave her my cashmere hat- she was hot and she kept wanting to fall asleep but being the trooper that she was, she kept up with our jam-packed schedule cuz she didn't want to miss out on all the showroom visits! She even managed to accompany me to 60 Thompson and Buddha Bar at the end of our busy days so that I could get a proper cocktail even though I knew she was exhausted :)

Christy Turlington was my favorite model back during my college days in the '90s. Badgley Mischka is expanding its fashion empire with a new day bag collection under its Platinum label. The Platinum Day bag is the third line of bags along with Couture and Evening. This collection is expected to generate 50 percent of the brand's total sales for next year and will retail from $300-$600.
The design duo behind the label, Mark Badgley and James Mischka hopes to capture the mass market with its new line of bags. "With this collection, our goal is to dress our customers in all aspects of their daily lifestyle," Badgley said. "This is the type of woman who works, she's a career woman, she carpools, but she's modern. She's our sportswear customer."
The collection consists of 47 styles among three categories. The "casual" bags are a series of everyday bags in napa leather, patent leather and straw. The attitude bags will be offered in two toned hardware and attention getting bold colors in patent leather, fake crocodile and ostrich. The "leisure" bags are meant to be ideal for a day at the beach or a stroll in the city and feature napa leather and patent-trimmed cotton canvas.
With its latest launch, Badgley Mischka will continue to bring products to more women than just the red-carpet clientele who don its beaded eveningwear. "The collection really opens up a new opportunity for us," Badgley said. "We have celebrities who carry our couture day bags, like Jessica Simpson and Teri Hatcher. But these will really broaden our brand."

I am officially back from maternity leave! I of course have been keeping up on the great job Tina has been doing and her obsession with exotic is contagious! The first thing that caught my eye after having a baby is this Chanel Alligator tote in light green and thought that maybe I will reward myself for making a baby but then I find out that it is $39,500!! Chanel has been threatening to raise their prices on exotics for a while now and Tina and I kinda just thought it was a sales tactic to get us to buy on the spot but they've done it. And not only have they raised the prices, I feel like their skins are sub-par these days. I saw a 2.55 alligator recently that had really giant scales which in my opinion is not as nice, the size of the scales need to be proportionate to the bag. I would think it would be easier to get smaller alligators but this tote also has large scales and that also makes me hesitate. I saw the most beautiful blue flap bag at Chanel a few months ago for $15,000 (given it was smaller than this tote) which made sense but at $39,500 I would rather wait for a Birkin for $30,000 and is far and away a better investment than this bag. This alligator tote has not delivered yet but you can call Chanel at 800-550-0005 and they will have whichever store that gets it call you when it arrives.

The Vera doctor bags above in washed lambskin are casual but sophisticated, the subtle curve of the frame and the slope of exterior pockets soften the shape of the doctor bag and the golden chain dresses it up. It is an incredible buy at $745!
The Athena clutches come in patent cracked leather, black or red leather, and suede. I love the curb chain handle on, it makes the clutch less formal and more youthful. It also reminds me of my tiny Hermes Kelly clutch. You have to look at the details of the chain, it is hooked to the base the way a piece of jewelry would. The price is also easy to stomach, $395.
