Stella McCartney Velvet Wristlet

I know everyone complains about how expensive Stella's fabric bags are but you do have to admit that her designs are good! I am digging this velvet clutch, it is totally usable and the wristlet is a super function of style and necessity. It saves you from juggling and fumbling around so you can look as cool as you think you are =) It is small but oh-so-cute! Besides, a huge clutch would not work as a wrislet. We are getting toward party season so you must plan ahead for all your season's needs. If you just buy by pure whim, you might end up with all one color or all bags that serve the same purpose. I would seriously consider this clutch for cocktail parties and would only get one other clutch for sit down events. The clutch also comes in red but if you already think it expensive, at least the brown will get more use. $635 for Pre-order at Neiman Marcus.

    Hi Bagsnob,

That is a lovely clutch! But I was wondering, do you own any Stella McCartney pieces? If so, what has your experience been with the quality of craftmanship? I have owned 3 of her pieces (2 pairs of shoes and 1 evening bag)and all have been poorly constructed (lots of loose threads, shotty soles on the shoes, hardwear that came loose)One pair of my shoes even started to fall apart completley after only 2 wears! So even though her designs may be appealing, for the price and poor quality, I am weary to buy any more Stella pieces! Would love to hear your take on it...

  • Isn´t it ironic that the reality of Stella McCartney´s products is so far from her ideology?

Why replace leather with imitation, if the turnover time of the latter is so much shorter, but the decay time so much longer than for genuine leather? Saving the skin of an alligator may cause the extinction of another species if the replacement designs are not environmentally friendly as well.

In fact, could a person truly concerned for the well being of animals and environment even be designing for such a superficial industry as high fashion?

I long for the time when less was what people had; that was more than we have today.

  • So glad someone finally had the wisdom and the guts to say the truth about the Stella McCartney fashion business.I totally agree with the comment sent by Merit.

  • I respectively disagree with Merit et al. After realizing what really happens to the animals in fashion products that use fur, exotic leathers, etc., I decided that I could no longer purchase such materials. Stella McCartney, and others like her, give us women a much needed and long over-due choice without having to resort to cheap ugly alternatives.

I have found the quality (in my experience) to be wonderful and comparable to any other high quality expensive bags that I previously owned. Does that mean I'm going to let my $2000.00 fabric purse sit on the floor while I am in the midst of something else? No of course not, but I wouldn't have done that with my Fendi bag either.

Now more then ever, women can do anything. Just because she doesn't want to use animals in her line doesn't mean she shouldn't be in high fashion. In fact, quite the contrary - we need more like her. Just because I don't want to hurt animals doesn't mean I don't want to look good.

And this bag is super duper cute. I wish she made more bags. Kudos to her for being so brave to enter an industry that will be so critical towards her ideology.

  • maybe it can as an artist put in house
