Bottega Veneta Julie Tote on sale!

Bottega Veneta blush deerskin 'Julie' oversized bag

This fabulous Bottega Veneta daily tote bag (named for Julie Gilhart of Barneys New York) is on sale at Bluefly for $1,240! As Julie told me herself, this is a bag you will use for years and will be perceived only as a great bag, regardless of the designer's popularity at the moment. I have been wanting this for months now and the discount is the perfect excuse to get it! It is super big but I plan to use it as a weekend travel bag or for days I have to take my son from gym class to lunch and have to tote around clean sets of clothes for him. This is made of sturdy deerskin which is less delicate than all of my other lambskin Bottega bags and will be able to withstand the beating it will get from my toddler son and I. I told Kelly to get this and that we could trade later but the more I look at it the more I think I should hoard this to myself.

  • I don't "dare" to buy on bluefly after I heard that it sells fakes. Is it true?

Lisa- bluefly is a legitimate discount outlet and I am certain they do not sell fakes. They are a large corporation and I doubt they would jeopardize their reputation! They also have a great return policy, anything you are not satisfied with may be returned for a full refund!

  • I have heard the same accusations of Bluefly. Not that ALL of their items are fake, but that they do not authorize ALL of their vendors or authenticate their products, which leaves the potential for counterfeits to get through. They were sued by Tommy Hilfiger and they have had problems with Balenciaga and there has been chatter about their Chloe’s and also some of their clothes. They have also started to inflate retail prices so that their "sale" items appear cheaper. Sometimes the "sale" prices are higher than retail!

Not saying they are completely illegitimate, but where there is smoke there is usually fire!

That said, the Julie is a great bag! I have the smaller version in White!!!

  • That is so interesting you say that. I have purchased from the for years and have never had a problem. And did Tommy Hilfiger sue them because they were selling its items without authorization or because they were selling fakes?

What I had heard was that they were selling without authorization....

  • From what I understand, some people were buying authentic bags from them, returning fakes for a full refund, and then Bluefly unwittingly put the fakes back up for sale. They have since started attaching special tags that must accompany any returns. I believe this issue happened with either Balenciaga or Chloe bags.

Anyway, I've never had a problem with them and have bought several authentic Bottega Veneta items. You'll definitely want to carefully inspect any bags once they arrive, as chances are they could have been a buyer's remorse return from someone else and may show some signs of distress. But they give you plenty of time to look things over.

  • Ahhhhh, that makes much more sense now. I can't believe people were doing that! Amazing what corrupted minds will do.

  • bluefly has been known to sell fakes. this is pretty accepted i would say. i think balenciaga was the main concern. i would never buy from bluefly, their customer service is awful, and when the balenciaga "fiasco" occured, they were unresponsive, and refused to admit they were wrong or selling fake bags. they would take the returns of these fake bags, and put them right back up on their site. besides the fact that if you decide to return something to bluefly, they take seven years to process your credit. awful awful customer service.

  • was about to order the walnut tote at bluefly today, but then I found out that they only ship to Hongkong in Asia. Which means I would have to wait until my next business trip to get this from my friend. Arrgh, the agony!! so then..I dropped by the BV store and bought the medium veneta bag in limo instead. Now I'm perfectly happy I did just that, even if my friend will accuse me of having absolutely no self control.

  • Authentic or not-even a BV bag, this one doesn´t appeal to me.Maybe it is just too plain. It lacks something that would make it special for me. Now I get it-it lacks CHARACTER.
