Corto Moltedo Tiger Fug

cortotiger.jpg

I saw this Corto Moltedo Tiger bag and did a double take, then a triple, then a OMG, WTF am I looking at? Am I just tired from lack of sleep and am hallucinating or did someone actually take the time, money, and energy to make this ugly piece of crap? Let's start with the three shiny balls on the front flap, if you have a baby it could be a nice teething toy but is useless not to mention totally hideous on a bag. As for the satin Tiger print of the bag, well, it's self explanatory isn't it? Nothing makes more of a cheesy and ultra tacky statement than satin Tiger print. The dangling gold charms are tribute to the '80s which was obviously the inspiration of this mess along with the extra long 24 inch shoulder strap so you can properly channel your inner gaudy diva. This also looks like something from Joan Collin's closet, the queen of all things ostentatious- which means it should cost no more than 5 bucks at a garage sale. The fact that they're asking $1,010 is totally ridiculous, I can think of other ways to waste your money, email me and I'll give you the list :). At Net-a-Porter.

Gerard Darel

Speaking of Gerard Darel, I am anxiously awaiting the entry of the boutiques into the United States as I'm sure all of you are. My friends and I have coveted the line of hip and understated bags for years, snatching them up by the truckload everytime we are in Paris. Check out the latest goodies, the Savannah bag in Rosewood on left is just the thing a girl needs to update her wardrobe without looking too trendy. A blush pink-y brown, it's such a groovin' bag to dash around town with! And the Violet hued quilted 24 hour lambskin bag, is that not just fabulous? I love the butter soft "Portobello" range of lambskin bags, what a fantastic addition to the line! Unfortunately I can not find these bags anywhere online for you dolls, you'll have to do what I do and plan a trip to Paris to indulge :) Check the website for more sumptious additions to the line. Most Gerard Darel bags are under $500 so you can spoil yourself with several of the lovelies when you find them!

Longchamp Rodeo Tote

lonchamprodeotote.jpg
The latest in our favorite Longchamp Rodeo line is this super yummy tote in silver leather. It is simple yet has a lot of style from subtle details, Longchamp is also known for lightweight bags so this might even work as a computer bag for hip girls who don't like lugging around a briefcase looking thing. There are multiple pockets in the interior (2 flat pouch, 1 zipped, a cell phone holder, and key holder) plus a generously sized outer pocket to meet all the needs of the busy urban girl! I absolutely love the aged silver metallic leather, not too shiny and just a bit retro glam. The size is 12x13 1/2, a good sized tote that won't overwhelm petite girls (it will also fit a laptop). Kelly's sister, Eva (the logo hater) will like the fact that the Longchamp logo is barely discernible, she's been wanting a Longchamp bag but bitches about the logo every time we pass the Longchamp store in SoHo. If you live in New York, you must drop by the Lonchamp boutiques for well priced and well made bags and luggage or call 212-343-7444 for availability of this fab Rodeo tote- $770. Longchamp has also launched it's e-store for US shoppers.

Congratulations!

Bag Snob Pop Quiz

eva_longoria4.jpghalle_berrybag.jpg

You guys are getting so good at this we had to think up ways to make it harder :) Okay, so this week's pop quiz is a little different. We have two divas, each carrying a great bag, Eva Longoria's silver stunner and Halle Berry's urban chic carrier. You must identify both bags correctly to win the engraved Bag Snob bag hook. Leave your answers in comments, first person to answer BOTH bags correctly wins! We'll announce the winner tonight. Good luck!!!

UPDATE: Congrats to Irena for identifying the two bags correctly first. Eva has the Gerard Darel metallic python bag in her clutches. Halle is sporting the Gustto Small Baca Handbag
. Congrats!!! Please email us your mailing address so we can ship the bag hook to you asap!
(Yes, Eva's bag resembles the Michael Kors python bag but the bag has gathers on the side, Michael's bag has straight sides with the ties. The bags do look uncannily alike... Michael Kors' version is fairly new but the Gerard Darel bag has been around forever, hmmmm)

On a side note, who's style do you prefer?

Kooba Nina Bag

Once again, I am forced to use my very limited photoshop skills to white out annoying chains that ruin an otherwise cute bag. I've been asked often to find bags under $500 and this one makes the cut in both style and price. $485 is reasonably priced for a stylish bag made of Italian lambskin. I'd take off the clumsy brass chain and use the rolled leather handle cuz it's so much more graceful! I am really into the gathered details of the front pocket that is hidden behind the brass push down lock, it's a creative way to add a front pocket for functionality without ruining the bag! The size is great, at 12 x 6 you're not going to need chiropractic care everytime you use it. I dig the slate blue color way more than the tan, it's younger and more casual, all the better to rock it with your new jeans! Kooba Nina Small Shoulder Bag at eLuxury

Miu Miu Metallic Patchwork

miumiumetallicpatch.jpg
Miu Miu's much hyped ads featuring Lindsay Lohan and the metallic patchwork bag are now available at My Theresa. This is not something I would ever be caught dead carrying but I can certainly see the appeal to young trendoids who like the flashy sensibilities of this ultra shiny bag. It's also way too big for my taste, 46cm x 30cm is roughly 18 inches wide and a foot tall. As you can see from the ad, Lindsay and her twin from Parent Trap can easily both fit in the bag and have enough room for a few bottles of vodka. I know I've gushed about metallic bags forever but this one is just not doing it for me, I adore silver, love gold, and like bronze metallic but just not all together in some weird french braid pattern. It's not bad enough for me to hate it either, it's just... blah. So there, my two cents on this ultra trendy bag that's going to be out before Labor Day. This is not a classic and certainly not an investment but it sure will get you noticed!

$1485 at My Theresa.

Fair Trade Does a World of Good

Fancy Footwork Tote and Glossy Goodness Bowl

I guess today is global awareness day at Bag Snob. Now wouldn't it be great to be environmental and socially conscious? If you just want a cute shopping tote ($29.95) that is useful and reusable, why not get one of these from World of Good, a website that sells fair trade products made by artisans around the world. Fair trade practice is one that pays artisans fair wages, provides safe working conditions, supports the communities they're in and helps sustain the local environment. I have a bracelet and a little jewelry box with amazing craftsmanship and cute, too! I shopped around and found more products that I am going to get. The Glossy Goodness Bowl ($19.95),handmade in Vietnam, is great for snacks and the Bowled Over Tray ($34.95) handcrafted in the Philippines from Acacia wood is perfect for displaying fruit. I love the beautiful wood and it'll look so nice on my dining table. Does all this not look like stuff you get for hundreds of dollars at some fancy shop? I can't wait to get the Moo-ve Over for Fair Trade Tong ($39.95) made from buffalo horn and wood in Vietnam for serving my daily salads. Now, why wouldn't you want to feel good about what you buy and be able to get beautiful hand-crafted products at great prices? It's win win for everyone! Please help us in supporting free trade and give better lives to the communities that benefit from it.
