Miu Miu Suede Tie Dye Bag

This is one seriously ugly bag. I am not sure what happened but I am guessing an explosion of ink cartridges at the Miu Miu design house prompted this inspiration. Another reminder we need to purchase a nice pencil case for our beloved bags. What is the obsession with tie dye anyway? I never understood the trend nor why it keeps coming back. There is an episode of Caillou (the Charlie Brown of Generation Z) where he spills ink on his shirt and his Grandma decides to spill more on the other side to give it the tie dye look. Caillou was all excited over this look, cuz what other 4 year old wouldn't love being able to spill stuff on themselves and not get in trouble? Why am I talking about a cartoon that you've probably never heard of or care about? Because 4 year olds are the only people who should be wearing tie dye, and it should be home made. $1,595 (I know, as if you don't have anything better to buy with that kind of money!) at Barneys New York.

  • I actually think this bag is serious!

  • I was on a flight from Austin to San Jose once and my ink pen exploded in my Gucci bag. I put my hand inside the bag and found a puddle of ink. Fortunately, it was a black bag and only stained the inside. P.S. You are right! That is an ugly bag...

  • Thanks for continuing to critique the more egregious examples of overpriced bad design out there. I've got two kids (7 and 3) and TOTALLY get your Caillou reference -- too true!

  • Couldn't agree more. Maybe you'd be the envy of the town in Woodstock?
    xoxo

  • completely agree with you on this one. I never understood it sicne the first time i saw it. the shape of the bag is fine, but the attention grabbing spilled ink is not remotely classy or aesthetically pleasing.

  • Hmmm... when I first saw the bag in this article before reading the article, I kind of thought they looked like blue flowers. I'd buy it if it were like, $50, heh. It just sorta looks like something out of Target.

  • Sorry if this makes me sound like a righteous bitch...

This bag has been made for late teens/early twenties wealthy skanks with no discernable style or class. They'll see Lohan or someone with it and immediately rush out and get it. Its just another item for those not-quite-there faux-fashionistas!

  • This weekend my mother, sister and I were sitting arond, drinking tea, and checking out the Barney's bag catalog that just came to all of our mailboxes this week. When we got to the page with the Marni balloon bag on the left, and this thing on the right....we, in unison, when ohhhhh, then ughhhhh. Marni floats our boat, Miu Miu sinks!

Bag Snob, the women of my family couldn't agree with you more. Perhaps the person or persons that select bags for the Barney's layout should hand over their job to you...or a member of my family. Seriously, how could Barney's waste a precious page on this thing?

  • Oh please, people. But for the price, it's really not that terrible, especially compared to that LV piece of shit right above it.

  • Fiona....It's a $1595 bag. For that price, plus a few forfeited Starbucks, you could own a Nightingale instead. Is there even a debate?

I hope Miu Miu isn't starting to go the way of Prada bags...also featured in the Barney's catalog; ugly, fringed handles and all.

  • Oh, Sue - that's why I said "But for the price .... "

  • What a rip off! The bag itself is not the worst fashion crime, but for that price...And to Robin, I am a late teen, and we are NOT all obbessed with Lindsay Lohan (a stupid anorexic party-goer who thinks she's hot). Yes Robin, that comment does make you sound like a righteous bitch.

  • I honestly think that this bag is HOT....Ok Tie Dye is definitely "Old School", but the bag is has character. Its very different & I think that its hot!!!

  • i think its beyond cool how miuccia can just RUIN a bag like that.. i LOVE IT!
