Gustto Doubles the Ugly

I know in concept this probably sounded like a pretty good idea. But really it's not, I mean what's the purpose of the hanging clutch when you have an entire tote because it sure doesn't look good. This looks like a deformity to me, like a goiter that takes on its own personality and starts talking to you. This is on top of the really bad bunchy shapeless bag that would look totally stupid even without the clutch there (not that I would use the clutch on its own either, what is up with that crusty frame and oversize chain??). And the color - patinaed copper, seems to just miss the currently trendy turquoise that I'm assuming it was going for. $635 at Bergdorf's which has been disappointing of late. They used to have great new designers, it's where you go for amazing unique pieces but it's now full of the same stuff everyone else carries and once in a while they have ugly crap like this.

  • I do not understand this bag? The clutch would be way too small on it's own, and what's the point of the chain, to make it some sort of bracelet clutch! The big bag, on it's own, isn't too bad for $600 though, though i doubt anyone will actually buy it (the fabric looks like a pair of old jeans!).

  • I guess this is an attempt to give the consumer more bang for her buck :)

  • I don't actually mind the bag itself, minus the godawful clutch, and for $600 I can picture that oxidized copper looking really nice when carried by say the likes of Julianne Moore, with dark denim and a crisp white coat. Maybe? Maybe not. I'm not sure, but there is something that's not so offensive to me about this bag, minus the clutch which I think everyone will agree is utterly hideous. Maybe it's the colour, I find it interesting and fresh.

  • The celebrity is Nikki Hilton.
