Bottega Veneta Campana Bag

I found myself mesmerized by the Campana bag in pink magnolia last week at the Bottega Veneta boutique. While the Montaigne bag is boxy, serious and grown up (and actually a bit too masculine for me), the Campana bag is soft, pretty and ultra feminine. I agonized over this bag as I did not want (nor did I need) two pink magnolia colored Bottega bags, limited edition or not, I am not that greedy. After transferring everything from my bag to see how it'd look with real stuff in it, (even better than the tissue paper!) I had to take it home with me. I know, I have no self control. But I cancelled the Montaigne bag in magnolia so one of you lucky people on the list below me will get to have it. I love my Campana bag, the woven lambskin is super lightweight (about 6 ounces) and very roomy for all my summer needs (about 12 inches wide but expands to 14 inches if needed). It has a magnetic enclosure on top so I never have to worry about closing it (whereas the Montaigne would require me to zip and unzip from side to side at each access). There is a cell phone holder and side zipped pocket in the ultra soft suede interior lining and flat straps that stay on the shoulder really well. It's also about $400 less than the Montaigne bag which means I get to pick out a pair of Bottega shoes :) $1,690 at Bottega Venetta 214-265-0136 (good luck trying to locate one, I think it's sold out)

It's all in the details, the entire bag is meticulously constructed, from the weave detail on the shoulder straps to the perfectly shaped bottomside. Everyone, meet my love of the month!

  • Fabulous! Just love love love Bottega Veneta. The S/S '07 colours are just gorgeous. Am hoping the Campana comes in other light colours too.

  • OMG, that is To Die For! I can see why you had to have it.

  • This is so gorgeous! And in a classic shape and color! The leather looks butterfy soft, too.

  • if you dont mind me asking, what do you do for a living? it seems like you buy $1,000 bags every 2 weeks!!!

  • OMG, the BV Campana in GORGEOUS! I love the shape of the bag and it looks like it will fit better over the shoulders compared to the Montaigne.

  • Very pretty! I want to get a bottega this season...I really like the old petra color. It's a bit more me than the pink magnolia, though both pinks are beautiful.

  • your blog inspired me to visit the bottega veneta boutique on sunday and, it's horrible, i lost all restraint! the bags are so much more beautiful seen in person and they're so sweet and luxe. beautiful, beautiful.

  • That is absolutely gorgeous! I do agree that it is more feminine than the Montaigne. Also, the Chanel Sport line for 2007 has just been published in the Chanel site. Maybe there are some good bags?

  • This is MAJORLY on the money - ladies... go get one!!! Men like me NEED to see you carry this bag at swanky bars and clubs this summer!!! You HAVE to get this bag for the future of stylish man and womankind!!! I am being serious... this bag is gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi All,
I have been carrying the new love around and it's just so fab, these photos are not even close to what is looks like in person. First, the sides fold in but you can expand it to get more room, the color is also a bit more vibrant but still a very pale pink (I'm way too old for a pink pink purse), lastly, the leather is so soft I can't stop touching it!

Cinthia, you asked what I do for a living.... I am a professional Bag Snob and it is my "job" to buy bags :)

    xoxo

  • Wasn't the campana one of your top 10 bags of the year? I have been loving this bag for awhile and I love the color. Glad you are enjoying it.

  • i admire you bagsnob. i am graduating college in may, so i dont have the bank account to buy any of these bags, but hopefully i will soon. i am a bagsnob in the making!

  • Please tell us about all your purchases....you obviously have great taste. I wish we could all be " Professional Bag Snobs"!!! :)

  • I have 3 Bottega Veneta bags (so far!) and the quality of the leather is absolutely wonderful. I love the colour of your Campana .... great choice for the warmer weather. Lucky girl for buying it when you can. Love the site, by the way!

  • BELLISSIMA, brava!
I love all Bottega Veneta bags, and all the times i get into the shop in Milan (i am Italian) I really get crazy...
but let's say that after I tried on this Campana Bag...i forgot all the rest.

  • so adorable! i want to get this one as for my bday present... heheh....

  • I have to leave the "Professional Bag Snob" job to those who are masters at it.
This is a great place to see the bags from home.
THIS is a beauty! No wonder you had to have it- I love everything about this handbag!

  • I JUST BOUGHT IT! Splurge, splurge, splurge! I have coveted BV bags for more years than I care to share and this is my first - the Chicago store is beautiful, the service was great, and the bags are even better in person. My BV associate called around for the bag and located it in NY - then had it sent to the store. It's beautiful, light, I am in love. Thought I would share this with the only people who may possibly understand!

  • I am in love with Bottega bags! I am planning to get an everyday bag, and the Campana looks like just the thing, although I'm not sure the magnolia color is very practical. I had my eye on the cocker bag, but am not sure how comfortable the braided strap would be. Also, I love the poudre color but again, not sure how practical that would be for everyday. Any thoughts?

  • i am trying to decide between a zip around Bottega Veneta (distressed brown) wallet and the large black leather saffiano prada wallet that snaps and can hold up to 21 credit cards. the zip around of the bottega looks to my hubby like a "dob kit" and not a wallet, but i feel like the prada one is common and probably not as good quality. what do u think?????
