Zac Posen Aurora Bag

Zac Posen's Aurora bag in creamy white leather is the answer for young women who aspire to their grandmothers' elegance but still want to look their age. We always preach age appropriateness (if I see another 46 year old woman running around in clothes befitting a 16 year old, I will slap her silly!) and this is a fabulous and very youthful interpretation of the classic "grandma" bag for lack of a better word. My grandmother has many bags similar in shape to this in her collection, but none have the cool nutbolt hardware detail or the soft grainy leather. I could do without the two leather straps with twist lock closures because I am lazy and need everything to be at my finger tips but it does add more interest to the classic lines of the bag so I'd leave them open for easier access if I were you. There are also three pockets to keep your organized in the luscious grey suede interior. Unlike some of Zac Posen's other bags, the Auoroa is only 12" wide so you won't look like an elf carrying a giant's bag. Zac Posen Aurora Bag $1,400 at eLuxury.

Bag Snob Pop Quiz

We are going to have a special Bag Snob Pop Quiz tomorrow (Weds April 25) at 1pm EST. We have been getting a lot of late answers from people who didn't happen to check in at the right time so we are giving a heads up this time because we are giving away a very special prize. You will not want to miss this. Hint: It is something snake skin and from the designer of the bag in question.

Sanchita Linen Bag

I am ready to head to the beach already! Or at least around the beach area for lunch and shopping because I don't actually lay out in the sun, it is really bad for your skin =) I am planning a trip to Santa Barbara's Bacara resort so I will need a really light weight and cute bag to use while I'm there. I really really wanted Tod's Bensonville in canvas and leather trim but I couldn't justify a canvas bag for $1090. And besides, it is not such a good beach bag. This bag from Sanchita however is only $375 so it doesn't need justifying. It is linen with nappa leather handles and a bit of contained flash of sequins and rhinestone to set this bag off in the sunshine. For those who actually go to the beach and need a great bag, this would be perfect. Available at Vivre for $375.

Lanvin Niger Sportsac

lanvinsportsac.jpg

Lanvin's Niger Sportsac is as casually chic as you can get! A simple sports bag with a few gathered details at the right places and you go from blah to fab! I love nude patent leather, my Louboutin nude patent Yo Yo slingbacks just arrived from Bergdorfs and this is the perfect bag to go with it. It's just such a stylish and understated bag. See how the little zipper strap on the outer pocket doesn't get in the way of anything but is still functional? Alber Elbaz understands that it's all in the subtle details and you don't need giant flaps all over your bag to make a statement. The chunky double chains add just enough hardware to liven things up but not so much that you'll pull a muscle carrying it. This is not just a bag for sporty girls, you can dress it up easily as patent leather is as glam as they come. $2325 at Barneys New York

lanvinpatentflat.jpgCheck out these adorable Lanvin ballet flats in beige patent leather! I never thought I'd say this as I am a very petite girl addicted to platform shoes but ballet flats are so elegant and chic! I recently got a pair and I can not tell you how much easier it is to shop all day in flats :) $515 at Barneys New York.

Bag Snob Pop Quiz

vbeckhamclutch.jpgHere we go again. Who can guess the oversized clutch Victoria is seen with while shopping on the streets of London? First one to get it right will receive an engraved Bag Snob Bag Hook! Please leave your answer in comments. Her hair reminds me of Duran Duran's Nick Rhodes, why I obsessed over him in high school is beyond me. Remember how much make up he wore? Anyway, the new look goes with her personality, full of attitude and uber trendy. What do you guys think of the hairdo? I guess it's hard competing with a husband that looks like this so a girl's gotta do what she can to get attention.

UPDATE: Congrats to Stacey for guessing it's the Jimmy Choo foldover clutch first :) Please email me your mailing address. After the last couple of difficult pop quizes I did I thought I should give you guys an easy one!

Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Pink Clutch

We loved this in the gold version but those of you still not ready to jump on the metallic trend, here is a fabulous alternative to the delightful Bottega Veneta Intrecciato clutch in pink. It's the perfect pop of color for your summer whites! I am really into this shade of pink, it is grown up and pretty, and you won't look like you stole it from your 6 year old's Barbie collection. We love non structured clutches like this, soft, feminine and ultra chic. It is also more versatile as you can stuff it full of stuff you need like lip gloss and it's lined in canvas so you don't have to worry about leaks and stains. Magnetic enclosures keep the lines clean and fuss free, just the way we like it. At $560 you can pick one up in black too! bvblackclutch.jpg

cmwhitedress.jpgThis adorable little voile sundress from Catherine Maladrino is just the light and airy dress you need to wear with it. Throw on a pair of must have flats and you're ready to frolic on a summer afternoon. Doesn't it make you want to plan a trip to Capri like, right now?!?! $395 at Net a porter.

Longchamp White Tote

longchampwhite.jpg

We loved this bag when it first came out so of course the new white for Spring excites us even more. Longchamp is known for practicality and this is a great example of it. Going anywhere exciting this summer? This is a great travel bag, it is big but not so big that you look like you are lugging around a suitcase on your shoulders (it is 15" wide by 10" high). It's the perfect size for flights when you need to carry all your entertaining and comfort needs but when you get to your destination, this bag is great for shopping, beach and drives (you can fit an entire change of outfit in there). The zippers on the front supposedly add to the expanding and contracting of the bag but in actuality don't do much and are just details that add to the look. The front zipper pocket is great for passports and boarding passes and there are two side pockets for cell phones and keys. This of course makes for a fab city tote - it is big enough to fit my new MacBook! $740 at Saks.

Tod's Novita D-Bag

Are you feeling ladylike? This bag sure makes me want to be prim and proper with a tailored, fitted dress and cute flats. This frame bag is updated yet will still stand the test of time. I mean, it's a Tod's (designed by Derek Lam), they last forever and can always be counted on for a bit of sophistication . The woven canvas perfectly compliments the steel blue leather trim. The shape of this frame is unique and is not so big as to throw off the ladylike look you are going for. The bottom is leather and has protective feet so you won't have to worry about getting the canvas dirty. In fact, all the parts you need to handle are leather. Makes sense. Available at eLuxury for $1100.

Givenchy Bettina

We are constantly looking for bags that stand out in design and are different from the norm without being crazy or horrendous. As Tim Gunn, our Fashion Buddha says, 'there is funny and there is witty in fashion, you want to strive for witty". What's the difference you ask? Because funny is ridiculousness like the Bulga bag and witty is the fabulous bag pictured above. The Givenchy Bettina bag took a traditional tote shape, added straps hooked with cool hardware, and created a brilliant new silhouette. You can also un-hook the strap and it becomes a big effortless tote again, simple right? I love bags like this, simplicity in design but incredibly well thought out and ultra functional. The large outer pocket makes it easy to keep valet tickets, receipts, and other small items organized. The grey is my favorite, a neutral color that will also work with any wardrobe and style plus it will carry you into Fall. But it is also available in black, beige, and white, you can't go wrong with any of the colors. $1,395 at Barneys New York Or call 469.221.4725 to purchase!
