Prada Plex Stampato Tote

pradaprint.jpg

Wow!! Not as bad as the LV Tribute bag but equally chuckle inducing, this Prada tote was inspired by crayola vomit (since crayons are no longer toxic, parents actually allow children to eat them). We have been exceptionally harsh on Prada lately but can you blame us? Their new rainbow bright bags are really stretching their reknown to the limit by making the same ole same ole bags in obnoxious colors. Or the alternative is the furry fringey chupacabra bag. I've seen it on the streets as people pass their window displays of late, shaking heads, walking away in disgust, I'm assuming it's not exactly the kind of attention grabber they were striving for. The only small consolation is that this bag is $1220 instead of $42,000 at Saks by Pre-Order (I can hardly wait).

Loewe Nappa Aire

loeweapple.jpgloewepink.jpg

Loewe is Madrid's answer to Chanel, this luxury line of bags is their pride and joy and when you put your hands on one, the buttery soft baby like leather will have you swooning. And what can be more luxurious than an exclusive made to order bag? Their newest Nappa Aire totes are available by special custom order and come in 3 sizes and 7 colors with palettes of lips, eyes and complexion. I love how light the bags are, the nappa is the finest Pyranees goat skin and is the feather weight of all leathers, so go for the large version of this bag if you require the roominess. I am in love with the smaller tote in apple, it is absolutely the most adorable bag for Spring. This gem is not available in the US, you can find it at Harrod's London (44) 20 7225 6694 or find a boutique nearest you at Loewe.

Celine Double Tote

Remember our contest with the Celine ad featuring this bag? The double tote is now available and it is totally fab and quite ingeniuse to boot. The double tote has a removable frame clutch in either solid canvas or logo jacquard Blason canvas. It is actually 3 bags in one, you can use the whole thing together, use just the clutch or use the tote without the clutch for an extra roomy interior. The clutch is a good size so it is funtional either in the tote or by itself. Imgaine the practical use of this bag! Take the bag to work during the day and remove the clutch for your evening excursions. We love the Lady version in Opal croc, the contrasting use of the different croc pieces draws attention to a timeless bag. Leather in Luggage is $1750 at eLuxury and Lady in croc is at 667 Madison Avenue, New-York (212) 486 9700.

Jennifer Alfano

Jennifer Alfano was introduced to us by a mutual friend and of course the first thing she did was show us her bag collection, which we love! The use of interesting exotic (the Marina is in velvet python with a smoothed surface), the clean fluid lines and interesting hardware all struck a chord with us. But it wasn't until we got to know Jennifer herself that we realized she is a long lost sister of the Bag Snobs. During our first conversation she said that her style icons were Lee Radziwell and Jane Birkin, women who aren't trying too hard. She loves their 60's relaxed sense of style. I was like, am I in bizarro world? Am I talking to a Tina double? Then she went on to say that she designs for a girl who wears a Chloe dress one day and then jeans the next and I swore she must have snuck into mine and Tina's closets! She is also a mommy with 2 little girls so how could we not just love her? She began her career as a fashion editor for Vogue, Harper's Bazaar (where she worked for Liz Tilberis until she passed) and then as the Fashion Features Director under Glenda Bailey until recently. She didn't want to spend $15,000 on a Balenciaga alligator motorcycle bag so instead spent mutiples of that to start her own bag line. Now that kind of rationalization is something we can definitely identiy with! Jennifer Alfano bags. Carolina clutch is $1545 and Marina clutch is $1195, available at LuxCouture and Jeffrey New York (449 West 14th St. New York 212.206.1272).

The Lautner bag in black patent/navy suede. $1,021USD, 525GBP

Hot from Fashion Week is the debut of Anya Hindmarch's Fall 2007 line of fabulous bags. We are thrilled Anya gave us permission to offer Bag Snob readers a sneak preview of the Fall line. I don't even know where to start I am so excited! I am just sorry I did not see it in person or have lunch with our idol, Anya, as planned. Top of my list is the Lautner bag in black and navy, could you just die? It's so absolutely stunning! I love my Alessandra but will replace it with the Lautner in the Fall. Trimming black patent leather with suede is a brilliant way to tone down the shine, especially in contrasting navy. And check out the super mod hardware on the handle, love it love it love it! For flashier Snobs, it is also available in black with metallic bronze trim. Another must have is the Shirley in metallic alce, it's a classic bag that will work with any wardrobe. The silver version of the ever popular Carker bag is also gorgeous. Can't wait for Fall to buy all these goodies? Get your Anya fix now from at Net a porter with one of the hot metallic Spring bags or check complete Spring line at Anya Hindmarch.com

Roberto Cavalli Tote

cavalliwhitetote.jpg

When I saw this minimalist and subtly detailed tote, I couldn't believe it could be from Roberto Cavalli, who of course is known for it's flamboyant and over the top gowns favored by the likes of Beyonce and J. Lo. I really like this big bag and I find it to be perfect for the summer when I do a lot of running around. There are tabs on the sides that gather the gusset and when removed allows for extra room. The brown stitching is great for a white bag because it makes it so nice when I wear my favored dark color linen pants. The lining of bags is so very important and the suprise silk leopard print in this bag does not let you forget that it is in fact a Cavalli. At Net a Porter for $1490.

Vivienne Westwood Red Label bags

viviennewestwood.jpgI got a headache the minute I laid eyes on the Kate bag from Vivienne Westwood. The multi chains dripping down the bag and on the handles, the UFO charm, the leather heart toggle, and the busy motif on the bag itself is too much even for Westwood. Known for her theatric brilliance on runways and off, I've always enjoyed her quirkiness but this bag is unforgivable. I imagine it is a reflection of her mind, full of fantastical ideas and artistic impressions which work on canvas but not on a bag. Take off the charms and multi chains and you have an interesting interpretation of the classic Chanel bag but still not something that would ever be seen on my arm. $895 at Net-a-Porter.

vivienne2.jpgAnother nightmarish bag from Vivienne Westwood, the Starboard bag is appropriate only if you've been invited to a picnic with Judy Jetson and her pooch Astro.

Givenchy Nightingale

I loved this bag at first sight and loved it even more when I heard the name. Givenchy's Nightingale is nothing short of fabulous. The dark silver metallic ostrich leg handle lends a modern twist to an otherwise classic shape and very simple bag. I played around with it and it was really light which makes it a great everyday bag to knock around in. It is one of those bags that will go with everything so you don't have to think much about it. Dress it down or glam it up, you'll look chic no matter what you wear it with. Can I say again how much I love the metallic python detail? It's subtle enough that you won't look like a Vegas showgirl but substantial enough to stand out. And the price is not bad for an exotic $1,895 at Barneys New York. Call 469.221.4725 to purchase!

Dior Jeanne Bag

Left: Dior Jeanne bag in aged Goatskin Right: Dior Jeanne bag in Nubuck

My heart fluttered when I saw the Jeanne bag from Dior on the runway back in October and I couldn't wait for Spring to arrive to get my hands on one of these babies. So imagine my excitement when I saw this on eLuxury this morning! Though the temperature outside is in the 20's, I can definitely smell Spring in the air, even if it's only in blogosphere. This is one of the most chic bags this season and I'd been planning to add it to my collection since it's debut. A ladylike silhouette with a rock and roll twist, it's got my name stamped all over it. I love the chain details and whipstitching, but the best part is the lack of logo!!! The Jeanne bag is the best out of the House of Dior in years and destined to be one of it's all time classics. So now I face major bag dilemma, what to treat myself with for Valentines day? The sumptious Jeanne bag in pale nubuck leather or aged Goatskin? The nubuck is creamy and gorgeous but will be hard to maintain, the aged goatskin is funkier, younger, and easier to maintain... decisions decisions!!! Dior Jeanne $2,400 at eLuxury- grab one now (delivery in April), it's sure to sell out soon!!!
