Poppie Couture Foldover Bags

A very hip friend of mine turned me on to these adorable Poppie Couture foldover bags. (and no, its not Jen Aniston although she did pick up 10 of these bags as Christmas presents for her friends) When I read that Poppie Harris is an actress turned bag designer my frist reaction was to be my usual snobby self but I have to admit, they are surprisingly chic! I love big clutches for luncheons and dinners and the foldover flap adds an unexpected element that I really like. I'm not sure how functional they are while shopping cuz you have to unfold and dig inside for your wallet and I am spoiled by the easy access of my open birkins but still, very cute and very stylish for this price point. I like most of the colors although I'd advice against the chocolate floral unless you still have sorority teas to attend. $350 at Poppiecouture.compoppiefoldover.jpg

  • These bags were just in Sunday's New York Times. After reading this piece, I bought my wife one and it has taken my place! She uses it day and night. Thank you.

  • The Poppie Couture philosophy is that women can always feel secure in their
look, provided they have a good handbag. Wear your sweats with a great bag,
and every woman will ask "Where did you get that bag?"  The kick for
Poppie is that she gets to reply, "thanks, I designed it!".

The Poppie bag has a multiple personality.  Each extravagant bag is sexy and
even has an air of pretension.  With just the bare essentials inside, it can
be folded delicately and held under your arm like a clutch, but once the
party gets heated, it can be filled with a shawl and carried from the frame
    like a purse. It's a clutch and a purse!

With Poppie Couture, the basic colors like brown, black and navy are not
only a big hit but are stand out pieces. Poppie works directly with the
tanneries in Italy allowing her to find the most exotic skins and to design
unique treatments for them, like an embossed floral chocolate leather or a
    croc patent leather.

The classic shape of the bag allows the customer to know that the red and
gold bags are also smart purchases. The red is a sexy basic and top seller
(men love a woman in red!). The gold bag is a standout basic and feels like
a piece of jewelry. Both have been a huge hit as gift items.

Poppie's goal was to design a bag that not only makes a statement, but a
bag that works on many levels...fashion meets function.  It can be folded,
scrunched, worn with and evening gown or as a day bag. You get so many looks
with one smart bag. Why get stuck with only the bag you carry on the plane?
This one can be packed flat for travel....or hey, why not pack them all?

The many reorders since Christmas have shown Poppie that this is a bag
people want in multiple colors and skins.
To fulfill the demand and increase distribution, Poppie is in talks with
high-end retailers, but adds, "I will always make it a point to talk with my
customers. There is something so special when hearing 'Poppie, I want another
    bag!' It inspires me".

  • fabulous! I ordered one!!!

  • I have a poppiebag which I LOVE!! She is a fabulous designer - and a gem of a person as well.
