Anya Metallic Alessandra

I am still in Vail, a beautiful small mountain resort town that boasts some of the best skiing in the world but without a single worthy boutique to exercise my wallet in (and trust me, it desperately needs the workout as I have not bought a thing all year). Thanks to wireless modem however, I am able to shop online! I just placed an order for this fabulous metallic Alessandra bag by Anya Hindmarch. We lusted over the haircalf version but this rockin’ subtle gold color is just too divine to pass up. $895 at Anya Hindmarch, Soho, 115 Greene Street, New York, T: +1 212 343 8147 Anya’s online boutique or Saks Fifth Avenue (but they’re backordered til March so I’d try Anya’s boutique first!)

  1. Hehe! When you say “all year”, do you mean the past 8 days?? So fab! Brook, London

  2. What a great start to a new year of delicious bags. Absolutely wicked!

This is gorgeous, no doubt, but I actually preferred the haircalf version – did you end up getting that? Ohhhh aren’t all of Anya’s bags gorgeous!!! And you have my sympathies, I haven’t shopped yet either – I’m waiting for the sales to end and new stock to come in :)

Hi Eclair, I decided to get the pale gold napa leather as it works better for my lifestyle. Haircalf is absolutely fabulous though and you should definitely get it! And yes, this interim of waiting for new season items is painful!

  5. Hi Eclair, I am totally with you on Anya bags.

And thanks to Bagsnob, I ended up with the Carker bag in cream last year – such a classic!

Both versions are equally beautiful but my preference is also the calf hair one as I feel it works better as a formal bag to be used for work. My only worry is the maintenance as I never owned a calf hair before. Will it be difficult to upkeep? Any advice?

Hmm, have you popped into Gorsuch? Just a thought, or you could trek over to Aspen.

    Hi Julia

I have a couple of haircalf bags and the maintenance is actually very easy. Most things wipe off with water (the hair will dry well and won’t leave spots like some leather)

Enjoy this fabulous bag! Don’t you love the carker? We have the black patent one and we adore it!

  8. Hi Girls,

I was just reading these comments about the Alessandra bag (gorgeous!!) and saw Julia’s comment about having the cream Carker bag! I just ordered it from Net-A-Porter…I’ve been drooling over it for a week! I heard that the Carker bags are beautiful, I love the lines..I bet the black patent one is gorgeous too!!

Can’t wait to get the cream one!

    Love your blog,

    Kelly

Sadly I have the shopping sickness. No one shops with me because I’m the one who cheerily says “get both!” Husbands hate me, credit card companies love me. But seriously, if it came in patent leather I’d say “get all three!”

  10. There is a 3rd version of this fabulous bag – in calf leather. Available in beige or brown (the latter I do not recommend).

Now I am in a dilemma – haircalf or leather. Choices, choices, choices.

I just received my gold alessandra bag, the New York Anya Hindmarch boutique had 2 come in and I bought one immediately! It is even more fabulous in person if you can believe it. THe leather is scrumptious and the leather wrapped hardware lends the classic shape a bit of edge. So thoughtful of Anya to include a penholder inside the bag, you have no idea how often I dig for my pen to write down a bag that I saw so I can share it with my readers. Now I will be properly organized! There is also a hook for your keys and two pockets for cell or ipod. She’s really thought of everything! You won’t stand shivering cold while digging for housekeys anymore!

By the way, you can wear it slanted on the shoulder or straight (you’ll need to flex the leather handle a bit to soften it up and fit your shoulders or wear it slanted like me, it’s more chic:). Call Lisa, the boutique manager to see if you can snag the other one.

And by the way, I still stand behind my preference of the pale gold metallic leather. It’s sublime!
