Breast Cancer Site needs your help!

breastcancerlogo.jpg
Listen up sisters, the Breast Cancer Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site to meet their quota of donating at least one free mamogram a day. The more clicks on the pink "Fund free mammograms", the more free mammograms they are able to offer to you, your friends, and yes, your sisters. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on the pink window in the middle. I would consider it a personal favor if you went on to The Breast Cancer site everytime you visit Bag Snob and click in (you can click multiple times, there is no limit!) Thousands of you check in with us daily, why not click in on this very worthy cause as well?

This won't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for advertising. Please pass this on to TEN of your friends and ask them to pass it on to TEN of their friends. Together we can make a difference! Thanks in advance! Click The Breast Cancer Site here

2007 Golden Globes Awards

There were a lot of surprises on the Golden Globes and not least of which is Sasha Baron Cohen winning for Borat (I personally think he’s brilliant and had the funniest acceptance speech, if you can call it that). I don’t think anybody expected Eddie Murphy to ever beat out Jack Nicholson for any award involving acting skills and of course the underdog of underdogs, Jennifer Hudson proves that American Idol cannot be trusted for picking out real stars. I hated the Devil Wears Prada but how can you not love Meryl Streep? Don’t we all wish we could be like her? Dignified, humble and get everything you want without having to be a bitch about it. OK, enough gibber gabber, let’s get to what we all want – the fashion. I loved that there was a lot of color and tons and tons of WHITE!! Many were highly questionable but where’s the fun for us if celebrities don’t take risks?

Poppie Couture Foldover Bags

poppieblackcroc.jpg
A very hip friend of mine turned me on to these adorable Poppie Couture foldover bags. (and no, its not Jen Aniston although she did pick up 10 of these bags as Christmas presents for her friends) When I read that Poppie Harris is an actress turned bag designer my frist reaction was to be my usual snobby self but I have to admit, they are surprisingly chic! I love big clutches for luncheons and dinners and the foldover flap adds an unexpected element that I really like. I'm not sure how functional they are while shopping cuz you have to unfold and dig inside for your wallet and I am spoiled by the easy access of my open birkins but still, very cute and very stylish for this price point. I like most of the colors although I'd advice against the chocolate floral unless you still have sorority teas to attend. $350 at Poppiecouture.compoppiefoldover.jpg

Shiro Bags

Left: Gabriella Croc Bag Right: Alberto Ostrich
Massimo Calestrini, the designer for Shiro Company, designs a mix of traditional style with modern taste while experimenting with new shapes and materials such as African ostrich and Asian crocodile and we love the results! Simple but luxurious, he really understands how to make the most of the skins he works with. The Ostrich Alberto bag is a great casual bag and judging by the name, it's a man bag but nice enough for both men and women. The lack of logo will also greatly appeal to our discreet bag snobs. 4,750 Euro ($6,140 USD)

The Crocodile Gabriella tote available in a rainbow array of colors is absolutely fabulous. I am dying to see what the fuschia croc looks like! The signature tag with lizard and danglin charms is a cheeky element that plays down the seriousness of a structured crocodile bag. 7,500 Euro ($9,697 USD, a bargain compared to the $15,000 Zac Posen is charging for his atrocious turquoise croc bag, don't get me started on him, he's nothing but another over-rated boy wunderkin) Shiro bags at Luisaviaroma.com

Update: Brooke's Hope

brooke

Here is a letter sent from Brooke this morning. PLEASE take the swab test. It takes no more than 5 minutes and all you do is swab the inside of your cheeks. Thank you, Bag Snob

Thank you so much for your response, interest and offer to help- We have extended the deadline for the drive until February because I have not responded to any sort of treatment and still have no match- We are going to proceed with a new protocol in the treatment of my cancer that will hopefully “buy me some time” for a stem cell transplant so I would appreciate greatly you forwarding the email to those who you think would be interested in responding. There are ample dollars in the fund to cover the $52 cost for testing. I am so grateful that you would even consider sending the email to your classmates- Its simply a numbers game – I just need ONE match and even though it hasn’t happened yet ,I remain optimistic that one can and will surface.
Again, My thanks
Brooke

Lanvin loves Green for Spring

lanvingreen07.jpg

We've been enamored with the influx of pretty pale palettes of spring bags (have you noticed our love of white bags in particular?) but we also adore the jewel toned bags that are so important this season. Lanvin's bright green patent leather bag with chunky hardware is a must have for us, ever since I helped my friend's husband buy that fabulous green birkin I've been obsessing over this under-appreciated color! Green is a lot easier to wear than you think, use it in place of boring browns or creams and you'll be instantly glam. I love that Lanvin bags are only distinguishable by their gorgeous design and discreet tag rather than a blazing logo. But we're not big on long shoulder straps when there is a cute short strap already so take it off before you use it. 923 Euros at Luisaviaroma.com. ($1192 USD)

We've Lost Chloe

chloepatchwork.jpgchloeaubrey.jpgchloedemin.jpgchloedora.jpg

I hate to say it but Chloe is a designer we may need to cross off our list completely. Still riding on Phoebe Philo's designs, Chloe has been pushing the Paddington and Edith (in every possible variation and configuration imaginable) to keep the name afloat (their Spring 2007 collection certainly isn't going to do it). Their new bags as you can see here not only lack inspiration but is baffling as anything resembling good taste. We hope Paulo Melim Andersson (previously of Marni) will save the house when he debuts his Fall 2007 collection because this interim design team obviously lacks clear vision and direction and is working out as well as Britney Spear's new stylist.

I don't understand why every designer eventually does a patchwork bag ($2125). Is the mid-west market really that strong? The Aubrey ($2760) disco nightmare looks like something you get at Target (which I guess isn't a total slam since all the cool designers are designing for them.... and the Gap). Again, not sure who they are targeting here with this denim ($830) atrocity, I can't imagine the doolie and Winnebago crowd shops and Bergdorf's much. The Dora ($1575) is not as offensive as the rest, but come on, this is a poor excuse for a new design. Did I mention a lack of inspiration? All available at Bergdorf Goodman.

Fendi Selleria

fendimetallicselleria.jpg

I find this super simple Selleria from Fendi quite refreshing. I love that the simplicity showcases the silver metallic, making that the highlight of the bag. This is a large bag, 13" H x 17" W, so it's perfect for travel or work. Practical and sophisticated with just the right amount of snap. Fashion over function? It doesn't always have to be! At Saks for $1410.
