Great blog! I have been reading it as my bedtime reading everyday for the last two weeks, and drift to dreamland in a good mood indeed. I have a quick query. Like a previous reader, I'm looking for a black leather bag with gold or brass hardware for this Fall. But being quite petite, I don't want to look overpowered by a huge bag. I have been eyeing the Coffer, The Stam, The Muse, and The Paddington. My budget is around US$1,500.00 and I really want something with snob appeal, that will be sort of a classic, last me a while, and won't look totally last season. It also has to be something that will take me from day to night. What do you suggest? Is it too late to buy thePaddington?

It is definitely too late to buy the paddington but there are lots of other great bags out there! The Miu Miu coffer is a good choice but since you are looking for something that won't scream Fall 2006, I suggest you go for a more classic bag. There is a fabulous Prada bag with gold hardware right now that is very classic and will last you a lifetime. If you are petite, don't go for any of the bags you mentioned, they are all huge! Go to the Prada boutique and check out the options!

I saw the coffer bag in black and ivory and I'm in love with both of them. Which one should I go for? I'm confused..they both look great.

I would go for the ivory coffer if I were you. You know I am really into the light color bags for fall! Who says it has to be black all the time!
If you are looking for a classic to last a few seasons, go for Bottega. They're never the "it" bag of the season but they're always beautiful and always chic.

Why is the Paddington over?
Personally, I love the classic Paddington style- and I am an Hermes collector for over 15 years now. However, I am not so into Chloe or those new Paddington shapes now that Phoebe Philo has left the helm-
I could care less whether it's considered in or not- I adore it's shape, size and looks-I consider it a classic- this is coming from a super Bag Snob who matches her Birkins to her outfits-

If you read our website regularyly, you'd know that we both have the classic paddington in multiple colors (bleu nuit, anthracite, and chocolate). We bought them years ago during the Philo era and will love them for years to come. That said, we still feel it is too late to buy one now, the new ones just feel 'wrong'.

I live in Ireland, and have only just discovered Bag Snob -- I saw it mentioned in British Vogue. After reading your comment that Snob hates the LV monograms, I knew you were the blog for me.
But here is the problem: I have just been given a very generous gift certificate for, yes, Louis Vuitton. I already have the Pont-Neuf in black Epi leather,which is ok. But what else could you recommend that is not covered in the wretched letters? Speedy? Alma? But boring, aren't they...maybe I should just three wallets instead.
