Balenciaga "Edition" Bag Fall 2006. Balenciaga Brooch circa 1968
If you have not seen the Balenciaga "Edition Series" of ready-to-wear, jewelry, and handbags you are missing out on an important chapter of fashion history. Nicolas Ghesquiere recreated pieces from Cristobal Balenciaga's archives dating from 1954-1968 with brilliant interpretations that honor the couturier's vision with modern sensibilities. I have had my eye on this gorgeous wristlet bag with crystal pin for weeks now. The 2006 version is on the left, the original pin on right. My Bag Snob partner talked me out of getting it and I find myself thinking about it everyday. It's a perfect blend of an old classic frame bag with a current wristlet strap which takes the bag from "old lady" to "modern chic". The brooch is a beautiful complement to the aged chocolate leather and really makes this bag a collector's piece. Surprisingly, it's only $1590 even with the fabulous brooch, a small price to pay for a piece of fashion history. It's at my favorite store right now and calling my name every night (I am not going to tell you what store cuz there is only one bag and there are thousands of Bag Snobs reading our site daily and one of you might steal it from me!). So what do you think? A nice pre-Christmas present from me to me? And don't let the photo dimensions fool you, it's a fairly large bag that will go from day to night beautifully.

I am going to get it next week! My Bag Snob partner talked me out of it cuz I had bought 3 bags that week and she felt this one would not be used as much as the other bags.
But now that almost a month has gone by, it's time for a new bag! ;)
