Gerard Darel Flap bag

Apparently Gerard Darel is so hot in Europe stores can not keep it's signature flap bag in stock. After doing some sleuthing, we discovered that this Parisian design house has been owned and managed by it's founders since 1971, which gets The Bag Snob's approval! Choosing popular French actress Charlotte Gainsbourg as it's spokesmodel and muse is also a brilliant move, her mother is Jane Birkin, and may propel the flap bag to the iconic status of the bag her mother inspired, the Birkin. Grab yours now before Neiman Marcus sells out(remember the chocolate Gryson that sold out within hours after we gave it our stamp of approval?). At $625 we suggest you get both the black and the brown!

Gaudy is the new Chic

Forbes added 100 more billionaires to their annual list this year, bringing the number to a record breaking 793 people worth a combined total of 2.6 trillion. So what do designers do? They immediately make bling-y tacky bags priced sky high to cater to the newly riche.

This Lil' Kim inspired Judith Leiber-esque bag from Chanel is breathtakingly ugly. With it's ghetto proportioned Run DMC chain handle, it's perfect for soon to be divorcee Kimora Lee to use when she goes out to catch the next hip hop mogul. Chanel is too embarassed to publish the price but it is furnished upon request, call 800-550-0005

This is exactly what's missing in every billionaire wife's closet! An extravagantly sequined, beaded, gaudy bag with skunk tail handle to flaunt her husband's wealth. Price too ridiculous to print. Call Prada 212 334 8888

For our single snobs looking to bag a billionaire, Forbes maps out the location of each billionaire by city.

Yes, so Net-a-Porter is a little slow coming on the sale scene, but girls, it is worth the wait!! And since our job is to advise you on smart buying decisions, we picked a few sale bags that would be great for Fall. Hey, who knew we could be so practical? But how great is it to buy a bag on sale NOW for the next season? Too good to be true. But the sale is on everything, including super cute summer dresses that you still have time this season to wear.

The Celine Clandestine frame bag is a true classic. We loved it in pink but even better for long term use is the black. You will use this for years and it's on sale for only $837 (originally $1395).

The Bottega Veneta Leather and velvet bag is a bag we absolutely love and red is THE color for Fall. The embroidered detail is sooo beautiful. $1,780 on sale for $1,068.

Amazingly, the uber popular Marc Jacobs Ursula Bowler Bag is on sale. Metallic is of course perfect for the holiday season and it looks like the trend is going to continue because a lot of Fall bags are coming in metallic. So all in all, this is a smart buy for $645 (was $1075.00).

The Bottega Veneta Karung Snakeskin Bag was $3,150 and on sale for $1417.50. It is a great price for exotic and it is especially good for the coming holiday season. We love this bag for the tortoise shell chain handle.

The "Politically Correct" Snob

Matt and Nat Vegan-friendly Bags $80 - $125

We know you've pegged us as fur lovin'- leather totin' -meat eatin' chicks who have nothing better to do but make fun of sense and style challenged celebs (and you'd be absolutely correct!) so we wanted to show you our softer and kinder side. No, we're not going to stand naked behind display windows at Stella McCartney but we will tell you where to find Vegan friendly bags by Matt and Nat. A fave of Gwyneth, Natalie Portman, and other self righteous starlets because they use 100% cruelty free synthetic leathers. Matt and Nat claim their bags can pass for "real animal leathers", which brings me to a thought, why the hell would you want a bag that looks and feels like leather if the whole point is to discourage the use of leather? It's like the buddhist vegan restaurants we used to go to that had soy products made to look like shrimp or meatballs, doesn't that defeat the purpose of being vegetarian if you're 'pretending' to eat meat? Anyway, whatever, here is our contribution to PETA awareness and politically correctness. Matt and Nat Bags at Luna Boston and Bennetts.com. One more thought, so it's better to promote the use of PVC synthetic leather that is known to cause environmental pollution and certain cancers in HUMANS? Just a thought.
