Still in Love with Bottega Veneta

bottegacervocrocker.jpg

We are still in love with Bottega Veneta's crocker hobo a year later (how many loves can you say that about?) and it's back this fall in mouth watering chocolate. How can you go wrong with a bag that has just enough detail to show off it's craftsmanship yet tasteful and easy to wear with anything? You can tell by the intricately braided handle and woven outer pockets that these artisans are descendants of those who built the Vatican (I just made that up. OK, maybe not literally but it's the same kind of Italian blood). Pre-order at Saks for $1780 also availabe in black. More Bottega styles available at Net-A-Porter.

Also for fall are the Pepe flap bag with lock for $2380 and the Braided Handle Tote for $1550. These are also pre-order items through Saks.

Wet Bikini Bag

Dear Bag Snob,
I own several beach/summer tote bags because I practically live at the Soho House pool in the summer and like to keep a change of outfit in my bag in case friends call to meet up for drinks. My problem is I don't know what to do with my wet bathing suit! I've been keeping it inside a plastic bag in my purse which is totally gross and trashy but it beats sitting in rush hour traffic to get to my apartment in mid-town to change. Do you have any suggestions? I love your blog and agree with the London Guardian, this is the best website EVER! It's the mother of all blogs!
Love,
Bikini Babe

Dear Bikini Babe,
We love hanging out poolside at the Soho House whenever we're in town as well! (we're the chicks using our birkins to tote sunscreen and trashy novels). We totally understand your dilemma and have the ultimate solution to your problem. The "Wet Bikini Bag" is every bikini babe's must have! It has an inner plastic lining so our wet bikini won't seep through and damage our Hermes wallet while we drink champagne in the bar. Best of all, it has lots of glittery and sparkly embellishments so we can be stylish while being practical! It's available at Wrapables.com for $21.95, ground shipping is only $5 so get yours today!

Kisses,

The Slut Pack

I am pissed that my monthly ritual of indulging in fashion magazines is being ruined. Why is Lindsay Hohan, errr, Lohan, on every freaking cover? I want to rip off her face so that I can actually enjoy my moment of zen and oneness with fashion and print. So to save my inner sanctum and sanity, it gives me great satisfaction to coin the term "The Slut Pack" for 4 ladies of the weak inner thigh muscles. I'm sure no one needs any clarification as to why they are members of the Slut Pack but let us indulge.

Oh, and by the way, we expect to be credited everytime that term is used! So, Tyler Durden, I'm sure I'll be hearing from you.

The luxury of Loro Piana

loropianaglobe.jpgloropianaglobehazel.jpg

We all know there is nothing more heavenly than having a Loro Piana cashmere scarf. Their patented technique of spinning their yarn gives it that shimmer and the bright colors. You just feel like a million bucks when you throw that on even if it's over some haphazard outfit. Which is why it is so great for traveling, it's light and you can use it as a blanket instead of the scratchy, pellet-y, god-knows-who-used-it-and-whether-or-not-they-actually-cleaned-it-before-they-put-it-in-the-bag blanket they give you on the plane (even the first class ones are not up to snuff). So from the house that bring us that kind of luxury, you know their bags were made with the same care and consideration. These are not your hip trendsters - like a reliable Tod's bag, this will wear for decades and hold up to our daily grind in and out of cars, airports and up and over chairbacks and strollers. The globe bag features special seams on the sides that allow it to fold in and collapse (as shown in picture) or stand up and be a tote! Ingenious! We love them transformer bags - it's like having multiple bags. It comes in 3 sizes. The mini is just cute even if it's not as functional but get it in red and you will be super hot this Fall with the "it" color of the season.

Both the Mini Fjord Globe for $1795 and Medium Fjord Globe for $1995 are available at Neiman Marcus.

Bag Snob is "Going Up"!

Our chic friend Furlagirl found a quote about us in the London Guardian magazine:

Dear Bag Snob,
There is a brief mention of you in yesterday's London Guardian, on the fashion pages in the magazine, in a section called The Measure, which is one of those going up/going down features. You are, of course, Going Up.

It's not online but here is what it says: 'Bagsnob.com The best website in the history of websites, like, ever!'

Gold Medal for Pucci

This metallic Pucci may seem a little much for our taste but with the right outfit, it is super chic. This is the answer to the summer challenge of wanting to wear something easy without looking like a total slob. Especially if you decide to have lunch at a nice outdoor cafe, you do not want to look like a dog walker on her break! These long shorts with gold stitching, a cute top, high strappy sandals - and with this bag, you will have the ultimate fab summer outfit that can even take you all the way to a night out on the town - for those occassions when lunch with wine end up becoming dinner and drinks. $1340 at Net-a-Porter.

Bag or Body Armor?

This Corto Moltedo Priscilla logo bag definitely ranks up there as THE ugliest bag we've ever featured but it is also the most bizaare. Not to be totally politically incorrect but I believe this is the latest fashion for suicide bombers (ok, that was totally un-PC but you do see my point, right?). As if the bag isn't busy enough, the Q*Bert style "Corto" logo kicks it up another notch to ensure a place in Bag Snob's Hall of Lame. $1300 at Net A Porter but they took it off, must have cost a buyer her job.

YSL Severine

Just to be fair because we do like YSL, here is a perfectly beautiful and rational bag that we love! These are the kind of bags we really encourage for the occassional shoppers - just sticking to the basics. This is a little mature but cute and hip youngster like our Bag Snob fans can certainly liven this up with a funky outfit. And that is the lesson of the day - go funky with your clothes but keep your bags tasteful. Pre-order the Severine at Bergdorf's $1595.
