The next "IT" bag?

Dear Bag Snob,

What do you think the next "IT" bag of the season will be? Also what colours are going to be big this year?

Thanks.
Angela

Hi Angela,

The Chloe Edith is poised to be the big "It" bag of the season. Especially with the departure of head designer Phoebe Philo, it is sure to become a collector's item alongside the iconic Paddington. We are also predicting lots of soft and muted colors for the year, no more tacky loud fuschia or purple bags, it's all about classic ladylike shapes and colors and smaller bags. White is a hot color for bags this spring as are nude and beige colors. We love this beige kelly croc, it's a classic little bag but will instantly update your wardrobe.

  • Is this a man purse?

No Allison, this is a ladie's bag carried by an apparently butch model. But there is no reason why men can't use it as well. In this gender bender age, there is no limit to what one can wear or not.

  • Dear Bag Snob,
if you are advocating neutral bags, what do you have to say about patent leather? (ie the fendi b. bag) which seems to violate your statement about toning things down colorwise?

Dear Maya, I've been dreading the mention of the b. bag for months now. It is one of the most hideously unattractive and out of proportion bags I've ever seen. The giant buckles on the front look like over inflated collgenized lips and all the crazy embellishment is to hide the fact that the bag is so gross. Prada has some wonderful bags this year. I'm not saying no color, just softer palettes to go with the frilly and feminine dresses that are populating the season.

  • A tiny Kelly bag is always #1 on my list. Enough oversized bags for anorexic hags.
