How come there's no more news about bags?

they are pretty darn heavy! the padlock alone feels like a ton, but they're really cool!

How can u spot a fake? Anyone knows? I found out some points by myself..=)

How come you cant click on the bags and zoom in on them??

need i few pointers on how can i tell the difference of a real chloe paddington and a great fake...................

How to tell a genuine one from a fake? The fakes are darn good I have to say.

1) The most obvious one is that the fakes have serial numbers embossed on a leather tag inside the bag. The genuine one does not

2) The Chloe embossing font on the genuine bag
is slimmer than the ones on the fakes. Unless you have the genuine bag next to a fake, you won't be able to tell just by looking.

3) The genuine bag is very slouchy because of the excellent leather quality. It cannot possibly sit up on its own. With the weight of the paddington lock, the whole bag literally collapses. It is not so with the fakes.

It is very hard to tell them apart just looking at the exterior look, as the fake ones are produced near perfection.

re: the fakes, is it possible to tell the difference by colour? Are there colours that Chloe have not released that are turning up on people's arms looking genuine?

Yes, the colors will look shiny and plastic-y instead of soft and buttery. The distressed leather is hard to replicate as well.

Other ways to tell fakes from originals is the stitching. This is particularly easy to spot in the Tan Bags. The stitching on the original is darker than the colour of the bag. On all the fakes I have seen the stitching has been pale.

Another way you can spot a fake is by looking at the edges of the leather. If you look at the edge of the leather on the white original for example, it is tan not white as it is on the fakes. This is most noticable on the handles.

Does anyone know how much the bag approximately weighs?

I was wondering the same thing do the real bags have a serial number at all. Most of the ones I have seen had a leather tab on the inside of the pocket with numbers. Amy was saying the real ones don't have numbers on the tab in the inside of the pocket. well do the real ones have a tab but just no number?? Is that what Amy meant?? Hey everyone. I too just purchase a bag on ebay which I was CONVINCED was an authentic Chloe, though the word AUTHENTIC was not in the description, hmmm. I had checked the Chloe website and saw the exact bag shown - the cream with the brown edging. I just received the bag and it is so beautiful but now I am so wrapped up in finding out if it is the real deal or not that Im miserable! Anyway, seems like there is a lot of mis-information floating around as to what consitutes a fake, and Im finding it unsettling to see that people are now actually selling facts on ebay to detect fakes. Hello ladies..I recently bought a genuine Chloe paddington bag here at a department store (Holt Renfrew) in Canada. To answer the question if real ones have serial numbers, yes they do and it is inside the bag which is inside the pocket embossed on a leather tab. The bag is super slouchy and is heavy. well ladies, i came on this sight for info on how to bag a genuine chloe paddington but ive been left more confused than ever! for pigs sake.

just got back from Nordstrom to compare my ebay acquired fake paddington bag to the real thing. There NO discernable difference in my fake versus the real thing except for the price. The zipper for my chocolate is silver just like the original, the leather is supple and soft and collapses, etc. Personally, I could not possibly justify spending $1600 on the real thing and wonder how anyone else could unless they are multi-millionnaires who like to throw money away. Spend your money on something that has real value ladies like gold!! My two cents.

I'm sure most of the ebay bags are fakes...I actually just got the paddington (tan) from ebay. I've been lusting after it for ages and finally ordered it. It's probably a fake (now realizing it was too good to be true), but I hope it's a really crafty fake so I can love my paddington unconditionally and still believe it is Chloe.

Question though-mine came with all tags and dust bag. Would those be replicas as well, or would someone even bother?

fake bags come with boxes, dust covers, authentication cards, and even receipts! You have no idea how advanced these manurfacturers are. And by the way, your fake bag was probably made by a woman who is paid 90 cents a day and will have sight and back problems for the rest of her life as they are forced to work in the dark or with little light 16 hours a day.

We always recommend buying from an authorized retail store or online boutique such as Net a porter.

well I just won one on ebay. To be honest I hadn't even heard of a chloe until one day, I had it in my head that I needed a new bag. So I decided I would have a look on ebay instead of walking around all of the shops. Well anyway I came across a "chloe" not knowing what it was, I really liked this(whatever) bag it was. So I put a bid in for £40 (which is what I would usually pay for a bag) and I lost to a bunch of others. It went to about £230. I though "gees" what's so special about this bag. So I started looking around the net. Then it became my obsession to get one of these so called "it" bags. Why? who knows, it never bothered me before to own one. I just started off liking the bag. Finally I bid £80 this weekend, and won. The pictures are really good. It is what I wanted. Then I started to panic. "what if it's not real." I actually fealt gutted after doing a bit of research, that I have won a fake. But after reading everyone elses comments on this site, I actually feel better. Fake or not! It is the bag I wanted in the first place. So who cares. I haven't got it yet. It should arrive on monday, and I can't wait. I just hope it's a good fake.

I just went to Neiman Marcus by me and poured over a couple of the authentic Paddingtons. I notced that the authentic ones do, indeed have the serial number tags. The numbers were higher, with four digits in some of the sets: xx-xx-xxx-xxxx. They are very heavy and don't sit up without stuffing. The locks are usually scuffed and worn looking, and the leather is very supple and vintagey. Hope that helps anyone.

most hideous knockoff ihave ever laid eyes on. not to scare anyone who has ordered from ebay, but i wouldn't recommend it for the future. the photograph on ebay wasn't even legitimate (and obviously, neither was the seller)

the bag is orange vinyl. the gold paint is chipping off the hardware. and the 'serial number' is on a white price sticker.

the seller has relocated to china.

make sure your seller is legitimate before ordering! call them, email them. have them describe the stitching on the bag in microscopic detail. then, and only then, place your bid.

The Nordstroms in Park Meadows shopping center, Denver Colorado has NUMEROUS paddingtons. Even some metallic ones on sale. They are not on their web site, but, I'm sure you could phone them.

I have a chloe and I love it and just got the matching wallet!!

I have an authentic chloe bag purchased from Bergdorf Goodman in NY in January.
Authenticity:
There is a SERIAL NUMBER inside on the left side of the bag in light brown leather (My bag is the blue color).

The zippers are in silver. The lock and key is Brass and NOT GOLD. On both sides of the bag chloe is written on the brass buckle that expands the bag, however on the right side the chloe is written on top and on the left side, chloe is written underneath the buckle. The key to the lock has chloe written on it as well. Since my bag is blue it is sewn with the same shade of light blue thread and inside of the bag is a cream linen material type color. See Net a porter for the inside of the blue bag with the gold buckle. (i think those were the first to get sold out, so they don't have it on their site right now). Well i hope this helps. Cat, I think you are best taking it into a fine dept store and asking them to tell you. Mine is wrinkly and soft, so it slouches as soon as you put it down. I paid 1500, but now I see the price on Net a porter has increased to 1540 something or so.

I just received a Chloe Paddington in the Dark Brown/chocolate color from Bluefly.com. I read that bluefly is an authorized Chloe reseller- still waiting to get confirmation from Chloe.

The bag does not have a serial number. The edging is not significantly darking than the color of the leather, although the leather appears to be the same as the Chloe shoes I have (bought at Barneys in cream and NM in chocolate).

I bought a Chloe paddington bag from Overstock Auctions and received it Friday...I was so very disappointed. It was terribly Fake looking!

I bought a chloe paddington bag off ebay it was from a private seller and not a reatil seller. They had been a member for over a year and going back over the items they sold this was the first chloe bag. It was stated that it was used a few times. I am so in love with it. It slouches and is soft smells fab. There is a serial # xx-xx-xx the word chloe is on both buckles on the side where you let it out to make it bigger. one word on top on one side and the other on the bottom of buckle on the other side. The zipper is not brass but the rest of the hardware is. It came with care card and store tags. If its a fake it so good I would not care but I like to think it the real deal. However as everything checks out the key does not have the word chloe on it. Ojh well love it anyways.

Out of interest, if you get a superb fake that looks identical to the real thing at a fraction of the price, does it actually matter fashion-wise if it's not a real Chloe? If all the same materials were used and it looks authentic, why would it matter?

so i've been comparing the real bags to the fakes, and i've come up this the following checklist for you guys looking at them on ebay:

- check to make sure the hardware is brass and NOT gold, unless the bag is the greyish color in which case the hardware should be silver
- the zipper should be SILVER and not any other color
- it should have small brass feet on the bottom (6)
- serial number should be in the form of XX-XX-XX
- the leather tab with the serial number should be INSIDE the zip pocket, not just sewn into the lining somewhere
- it should have Chloe written on the hardware (the lock, the other brass plates, the buckles on the side)
- the buckles on the side should have Chloe written on top (right side) and Chloe written on the bottom (left side)
- the C's should be facing the opposite direction, so when the lock is infront, the C buckles should be facing so that the opening is at the back of the bag
- Chloe should be written on the key so that when the little nub thingy is facing down, Chloe is right side up
- also, pay attention to the overall look of the bag. it should look slouchy and very soft and buttery, not stiff

I bought a Chloe paddington that was sold as used.. It seems perfect!.. antique looking brass lock and brass everything. The zips are silver, slouchy leather that smells lovely, serial number on a leather tag inside ther pocket, all the Chloe markings in the right place..BUT ...(suspense...:) ... The lock at the bottom of the padlock is upside down.. I'm told this is wrong??

Just reading back through the posts and saw a comment about people slaving to make fake Chloe bags and only getting paid 90 cents a day. People also slave to make the real Chloe bags!!! Just remember that most designer gear is made in the poorer countries where people get paid about $1 a day and the only people who benefit are the owners of the designer companies!! The same factories also make the cheaper gear. It's a huge con really.

Even the fakes ones have the serial numbers in them. Take it to a reputable dealer and they will be able to tell if it's fake or not

i just bought a paddington on ebay and it arrived two days ago. i've checked it thoroughly and all the details are there e.g. silver zip ( i originally thought the zip should be brass or gold to match the other hardware), studs on bottom (6), soft slouchy leather etc. the only thing that gave it away was the care card - the last word in english was 'personnel' but spelled 'personal'. As in 'store personal'. I doubt an original Chloe would have spelling errors! That aside, I am very happy with the bag as it is genuine leather and is very well made.

How much one should expect to pay for a good fake one? I can't seem to justify spending more than a couple of hundred dollars for a fake product, but it seems that most listings at eBay is selling that much. Where else is a good place/site to get good fake ones?

The popular colours at the moment are tan, brown and black. Fake ones sell on eBay for around £150 upwards (approx. $285).

Any other good quality leather handbags cost this much anyway, so this is a reasonable price.

i am in china at moment and bought the brown one for US $19 - after bargaining them down from over $120

hello paddinton lovers. i bought a chloe paddington yesterday from Selfridges. it was £799 and worth it!! i looked on the internet for ages and seriously considered ebay, but dont do it!! i'm convinced they are nearly all fakes. as far as i know the only colours available at the moment in the shops are cream (like the one i bought), light tan, red-ish and a grey/blue. so beware of dodgey colours on ebay too. the cream one i have got is a very rich colour and it is almost light brown. anyway, how to spot fakes.......the serial number is on the inside pocket of the bag, nearly hidden. it is a ten digit number broken up into 6 digits and then 4 digits. the zip is silver, not bronze like on some fakes. the leather of a real paddinton is very soft and the bag collapses when you put it down unless it is stuffed. it is also VERY heavy!!! so good luck everyone!! my paddington is the best thing ever!!!!

i have studied my new paddington in great detail. here is what you should look for....
- 6 studs on the bottom (feet), - small studs on the reverse of the bag, - a metal zip, - brass key and padlock (both weigh a ton), serial number on a hidden small leather tag on the inside of the zip pocket (ten digits), - the lining is a pale creamy beige colour, - chloe is embossed on the lock, key, underside of the lock and on the top inside of the bag.

hi paddington lovers! i just bought a fabulous knockoff in NYC in white and its awsome! it includes all the details except it doesnt say chloe anywhere. but who cares? its not like anyones gonna come up to u on the street and inspect your bag. i love it so much!!!!why spend $1500 when u could spend $45!!

If you're in the UK, US, Canada or anywhere else for that matter... you should check out the Paddington bags on the Australian ebay website. I got mine last Friday. It cost me $AU400 (about $US300 or 160Pounds). I'm thrilled with it and I've compared it with the ones in the shops and it's definitely real.

I really doubt that you have purchased a real one for £160. Some of the copies on the market are so good (particularly by Francis Tse) that it's very hard to tell the difference.

A good quality leather handbag will cost you around £120 - £150 anyway and if you have a Chloe copy that looks authentic, then even better.

Simple theory about ebay is, you want to buy a bag which in normal circumstances you cant afford, so people go for ebay. For example, suppose real chloe cost £1000 and you buy from ebay for suppose £150, its common sens to understand that you are buying fake one. The seller wants to make money, how he can afford to sell so expensive bag at ridiculosly low price? I think everybody should be aware of it and if you want original go to authentic approved shop to buy them and propare yourself to pay huge money.

just to help everyone who wants info on authenticity.

they do have serial numbers, colour of leather can change from colour and style of bag. mine is XX-XX-XX on a dark brown leather tab inside inner pocket.

zip should be silver, the rest should be brass.

the chloe emboss on buckles should have one facing up one down.

it should not have suede lining.

if your happy with a fake then thats great as there seems to be alot of great ones out there, but me, well i just love my baby, sorry my bag :-)

Just remember, an authentic Chloe bag costs to same to make as a top quality fake Chloe bag. The only difference is that they go to Chloe from an Italian factory, rather than a Chinese factory.

Although people pay around £900 for a Chloe Paddington, all they really have is a good quality leather bag made in a bog standard Italian factory, who most likely make bags for non-desginer companies too. And I bet the workers get very low wages, probably no better than in China!

Where is the glamour in this and how can Chloe really justify £900 for a bag when in reality it probably cost only £20 to make?

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Chloe even created the fake bag trend in China, and get a rake off from this as well.

Yes, the upside down lock means it's fake. The X-shaped stitching on the top where it locks, if it goes around the rivets instead of lining up with them, it's fake. Gold hardware, fake. Seams on the handles pointing in instead of out, fake. Cream bags should have tan around the leather edges, not solid cream. There's no white Paddington, only ivory/cream. Lots more info on that page, courtesy of eBay. After reading it, I could honestly not find a single one online that didn't look fake! Until I found a page selling Francis Tse bags...you'll pay ~$300 for his fake, but it's better than paying $1600 for a real one. His bags are renowned for being the best of the best (and he does more than just Chloe!), no differences compared to originals. Worth it, in my opinion.

Hi I bought a Chloe bag from ebay if it isnt real its a good fake. I have checked everyody's comments (even though they all vary) and it has a serial number/slouches/silver zippers etc but it came from China. Does anybody know if this is where the fakes come from. The brass on the authentic does come of eventually. Liek with any other bag, if you rock it hard enough it begins to age. No bag will stay new forever.

hi after inspecting my chloe paddington bag again for the 10th time, i noticed that the padlock is actually locked on the left side if the bag if facing you. i checked the ones in net-a-porter and all the padlocks are locked on the right side.does this mean that my bag is fake? thanks

I bought my bag from this site and I am very pleased. The only problem I had was that I didn't receive a confirmation and no follow up emails when I inquired about the status of my order. However it did arrive within 2 weeks. The leather is soft & supple. Brass looks great and unscuffed.I have read everyone's comments and if you were to hold it up against real Chloe it would pass with flying colors. I have and love authentics but sometimes you have to get a good fake. My advice is to live within your means and wear everything with class and confidence no matter if you paid $20 or $2000.

Serial numbers:
All auth Chloe's have a natural color leather tab sewn inside the interior pocket.The numbers are date codes and xx-xx-xx or xx-xx-xxxx are both correct.Before mid 06 is xx-xx-xx and xx-xx-xxxx is after.Chloe recently changed to a ten digit # to stay ahead of the counterfeits.
Leather:
varies from bag to bag but will be butter soft and slightly distressed,they vary from somewhat smooth to quite wrinkled.
Hardware:
Most auths have brass slightly distressed hardware.It is not bright shiny gold.ALL the hardware should match ei;lock,key,feet,studs etc.Some Chloes come with silver harware this should look slighlty "mottled" and distressed not shiny.Chloe recently started offering solid black harware also.

With the lock facing you look at the bottom the auths keyhole is rightside up.If it is upside down you got a fake! Also all the screws on the lock are flathead screws.

The auth Chloe weighs Approx.3.5 lbs
The C shaped buckles on the side should be stamped Chloe one facing up one facing down.
Zippers are always sturdy silver zippers.
Interior on most untiol 06 should be light tan cotton canvas.
Some of the new Paddys like the shopper tote for example has black lining if its black brown if its brown etc.
I could go on and on...............remember...this is a well crafted bag crooked stitching,poorly stamped leather,etc are signs of cheap labor.If it too good to be true it is.You will not ever find a brand new Chloe for a few hundred if its authentic (possibly if its preowned)Chloe does not have sales,resellers,and does not wholesale these are tactics used by fakers trying to sound legit.If all else fails take to an authorized retailer for authentication.

I brought the white chloe paddington off of importsboutique.com. It was on sale for $800. Its exactly perfect, tan edges, serial number, brass hardware, stamps and embossed leather in all the right places. The only problem is the paddlock lock is upside down, i think?! The company are going to send me a correct paddlock, im just confused now that the bag might be a fake?! Has anyone else purchased from this site?!

Hi Chloe Paddington lovers like myself. Question plz....do designersimports sell fakes then? Coz they're selling them for $900? I even phoned them and they told me that they sell authentic bags and that i could even go to a Chloe boutique and they would clarify that for me? Is this true? Authentic or not Authentic? the ebay site in oz offers heaps of paddingtons and as usual they are different starting prices (some of them from 1000 others from 150 AUSD). i just got mine and either is the real thingy or an amazing fake!
anyway, i enjoyed reading all the postings...and yes, i do recomended the australian ebay, there are some amazing bags posted there...

can anybody tell me which is the correct way of closing the paddington bag? yes, it is pathetic but either i close it so well i cannot get to anything in a hurry or the padlock is uselesss as i can open the bag by unzipping it!!!

For years I have paid full price for the real thing but the prices are out of hand. I bought the White Chloe Paddington in Chinatown for $40. I have seen the real one and there are some very slight differences. Not enough for anyone to notice. So if your in NY make sure to hit Chinatown. There are some authentic looking bags there, you just have to look.

I spent hours trawling over ebay and so called "chloe selling" websites looking for the perfect REAL DEAL. I never comtemplated buying a fake, but like most of us i wanted the real deal without having to spend £800.00. I trawled through hundreds of websites looking for my perfect bag and came across many posts on many websites telling how people got ripped off, some even spending £500.00 on fakes. After almost 6 months of deliberating whether or not to spend my hard earned money on a bag from a website selling the one I wanted for £350.00 I decided to forget it and purchased my first chloe from Net a Porter.com. Yes it cost £794.00 but i had saved most of the money and my hubby put the rest towards it for Xmas. I know i can walk out my door, head held high knowing what is on my arm is the GENUINE AUTHENTIC REAL DEAL. Many people are happy to have fakes I am not one of them. Just remember girls even if you only spend £50.00 on a fake chloe - you know in your heart of hearts it is a fake. Save your pennies - it could take months, even years but these bags are timeless and therefore it is a true investment.

Remember a few things if someone is selling a REAL paddington bag for £150.00 - it is almost 99% a fake. Why sell it so cheaply when Selfridges & Co, Harvey Nichols and Net a porter.com are selling them at £800.00. People are doing many things to sell fake Paddington. I have even read of people buying a genuine from the above mentioned dealers and then buying a fake but selling the fake with the genuine receipt on ebay and making £500.00 on a bag that merely cost £25.00.

Don't get conned by ebay sellers and so called chloe dealers online. If you go to Chloe.com and go to their online shop it will direct you to Net a porter.com NO WHERE ELSE - what does this tell you!!!!!!!

Hi everyone, i got my chole bag from a webb site called www.Fashionbags.me.uk and it only cost £200! i took it in to a local dealer and he confirmed that it is real! so if you are looking for a real chloe bag on the cheap this is the best place to look. the only down side is that delievery is 10 - 28days! mone took 22 days.

can you help me with my chloe dilemma.went to bangkok in sept. with partner who bought two fake chloe bags,one for me and one for my mother, which were stolen from luggage in transit back to uk.(i made insurance claim, did all paperwork , etc and returned money to him!) my boyfriend then went back recently to thailand and acquired me a chocolate brown chloe paddington bag, which he gave me on his return. while he was away i had decided to end our 4 month romance for many complicated reasons, i am currently in the middle of a separation and he is also involved in very messy divorce.Nevertheless i took the bag, and initially said i could not keep it, but he quickly informed me that he had bought a geniune one for me( he has on occassion been able to spend this kind of money). So i decided that i would keep it after all. We broke up that night, and he is immediately dating again. The bag has not been used yet, can I morally justify keeping it whether it is real or fake. I came onto this site to find out whether it is genuine, and now do not know. My girlfriend was visiting me a few days ago and she had a real tan chloe bag, absolutely melt in the mouth gorgeous. mine has serial number on the leather tag inside and is very slouchy. please tell me what i should do , should i keep it.

Just checked out the website www.Fashionbags.me.uk and i would NOT recommend buying anything from there I have one of the chloe purses they are advertising for £270.00 - mine was bought from Harvey Nics for £305.00. Chloe purses do not have serial numbers or serial tags like the one they are showing. I believe these purses to be counterfeit - so if their purses are counterfeit what does that say about their bags. No one can sell a geniune chloe bag for these prices.

HI girls ,I have been on EBay for a while now and i to have come to the conclusion that most are fake with the odd exception, the thing is - there are different degrees of fakes, some are really really bad and some are really bad ,but if you look around properly you can buy a proper "copy" or "replica" Chloe that is as "authentic" as you can buy , How do you know i hear you say ,well i have sold roughly 40 copies with all my customers being over the moon and one or two have even bought more than one ! . The handbag industry is massive just now and you do need you wits about you if buying from EBay. Email me and i will source petty much what you want ,even from the 2007 collection (with the black hardware).I am not here to rip people off , i want to make money like the next person .I have nearly 200 stars. I cannot see why anybody would pay the massively over inflated price from these stores (sometimes making 500%mark ups) for an original Handbag when the only people profiting is the shop owner.
